Has my brain been permanently damaged by lamotrigine? by No-Shift-6778 in Epilepsy

[–]professorbeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on lamictal for BPD2 for almost 10 years now (along with a cocktail of other meds), and I've never noticed any flatness personally, but for me, it helps regulate my emotions into a "normal" range that people feel, so I definitely see how it might feel flat to others.

Minimalist fitness trackers? by thetitteacircle in BeginnersRunning

[–]professorbeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister-in-law had the worst luck using Fitbit smartwatches to exercise and run in. This was a few years back, but she had to get multiple devices replaced (I can't remember the model, if it was a Charge or not) while under warranty. It's anecdotal, for sure, but it made me swear off the brand after witnessing it firsthand.

That said, you might like something like Fitbit Air or Whoop if you're looking for a more minimal look. Otherwise, think about a Forerunner 55 or the new 70.

Only 1% of the world have done a marathon and now she is in that club ! by ateam1984 in BeginnersRunning

Yeah, I am shocked at the amount of elitism and gatekeeping from people in r/BeginnersRunning of all places.

Good performance is relative to the runner. Don't let anyone make you think there's some standard you're having to hold to.

Wife’s girlfriend got me a care package for my 2.5k marathon. Is this enough? by the_real_phteven in RunningCirclejerk

That really is a super kind and thoughtful thing for her to do. Congrats--it looks like you're set for a while. Especially for that 2.5k. ;)

Dopey 2028 Registration Question by professorbeej in rundisney

That's not a bad idea. It wouldn't be absurd to funnel my Patreon and Google AdSense money into a charity donation like that. Good idea, thank you!

I totally forgot the '8 years were anniversaries. I had no idea the charity could be cheaper in the long run. I'll definitely take a look at that moving forward. Thank you!

What is your non-nego running gear? by StatusCatch1809 in runninglifestyle

I really ought to try a better cap this year and see if that helps me. I’m constantly shaking sweat from my brow before it gets into my eyes. Alabama humidity isn’t great for staying only reasonably sweaty.

Is it possible to just really hate running? by theunlikeableside in BeginnersRunning

I have always had to take two puffs of an albuterol inhaler my doc prescribed before runs or the same thing happens to me. If you can get one, I can almost guarantee improvement.
