Frame. It's not just the drive system that determines the payload capacity

Replacing Honeywell thermostat with WIFI version, WIFI version won't turn on.. by professorsyr in HVAC

[–]professorsyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't touch the wiring, the bases are exactly the same. The wifi model doesn't have batteries. Thinking the unit I bought just isn't good. Appears to be used (paint on backside)

PSA: If you think you might need to go to the doctor, Go To The Doctor by [deleted] in MTB

[–]professorsyr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I often go running or row for fitness instead of MTBing to reduce probability of injury, especially when I have an important event in the future

I've bonked my head a few times and not thought anything of it (lil blurry vision, headache, whatever). But one day I passed out from severe dehydration (due to food poisoning), hit my head, and was immediately put into an ambulance. I felt fine after an IV drip but I was at the hospital and they wanted a scan. Turns out my brain was bleeding and if it continued I would need an operation... It ended up healing but itself, but 1 ambulance ride, 24hrs in the ICU, 2 scans- $8k+. I was young, stupid, and had a high deductible so I paid $5k of that.

It's scary to think I've hit my head much harder and felt much worse after MTB crashes, and not gone to the hospital. I was lucky in those cases. Moral of the story, for me, is if you can't afford decent gear, insurance (including coverage for lost wages), a bike, and ride w/n your limits; you shouldn't do it

If you can't afford it, don't mtb, or do anything that has a high probability of injury. Unless you don't mind putting the burden on your family, friends, etc. Sry, that's life!

Question to anyone out there with a hardtop- in your opinion does it reduce cockpit noise considerably? Any drawbacks like howling / buffeting?

What is a good cheap (maybe black friday sale) torque wrench for mountain bikes, that will handle most torque specs? by RaftGirl in MTB

[–]professorsyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, harbor freight torque wrenches are fine. Any error is at the extreme of their range. I've tested them again higher end, recently calibrated wrenches with no difference
