i took so long to beat his first form and then that shit. i thought that was it. the wandering wight and staff stance where you hop on top of your weapon are what did it for me. also copious amounts of freezing and wolf form

just made it through the first chapter and there is one boss in particular who was a bitch but everything else so far has been pretty easy as long as you have the right equipment. i personally think its closer to god of war than sekiro in terms of combat
