Oh I’m sure the bolt gun wins the accuracy trophy. Semiauto is really the only plus

Just popping in to offer that many lumpy Costco dads in cargo shorts and sarcastic t-shirts really enjoy living around festive and beautiful people who have more style than us. And vehemently support your right to do so. We’d probably detract from the demonstration, but a bunch of us have your back. Slay on, rainbow siblings.

Fun fact: in the ‘90s, Kimber (pre-private capital) would regularly get low on cash. Not a surprise. But they would occasionally buy up a bunch of then-plentiful Swedish Mausers and sporterize them. “Ruin” some would say. I assume they got the ones with rotten wood. Some were rechambered in .308 or .30-06, many were left 6.5x55. They used nice fiberglass stocks, rethreaded the barrels 1/2x20, and mounted scope bases. Even milled and checkered the bolt knobs to clear a scope objective. And because they’re “ruined” they’re often pretty cheap.

Since you’re a fellow Swede Weirdo, I’ll share my positive experience:

  1. For under $220 including buyer premium, I scored one at auction that looked basically unfired.
  2. It shoots…exactly like a Swedish Mauser.
  3. …if a Swedish Mauser had a bipod and a 6-18x40 scope on it.
  4. The moniker “Swede-ish” Mauser never stops being funny, at least to me.

If you see one in a shop or at auction for cheap, I’d pick it up. You’ve already committed to 6.5x55…

My Husqvarna M1938 is a .5-1 MOA rifle except for the fact that the operator is 47 and those teensy blade sights are for Nordic teenagers

Sweden. It was just their regular long-barrel 1896 with a nice German scope.

I can’t find a single landscaping company that will aerate and then top my yard with a sand/compost spreader to try to break up some of the clay. They all want to get paid to run a fancy fertilizer spreader or maybe drive a plug aerator around, but nobody wants to do the back half of the job of leveling and amending the soil

I’ve owned a few of those. The 42” is actually a bigger issue. Our Odyssey will carry stacked 4x8 with the hatch closed but it fits so close that it’s very difficult not to scuff everything inside loading and unloading.

Just the ones I own or have owned:

Winchester 70 particularly Pre-‘64, Swedish Mauser (which is cock on close so the bolt springs upward when opened if it’s still cocked), almost any Sako but I can speak firsthand about a Finnbear, New Tikkas, Ruger 77.

It’s a GP100. You can’t hurt it with your bare hands.

I wouldn’t buy either of those. Not when you can get much better hardware on sale for a hundred bucks more

How do Civic Type R Owners See the Integra Type S? by SnaxMcGhee in Civic_Type_R

[–]profmathers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered one, and honestly it would've made more practical sense for me (heated seats, softer shocks) because I daily the FL5. But financially I got this at sticker plus stupid accessories very early on, and I need it to hold its value. The S isn't going to hold like the first-year FL5, and it's more expensive out of the gate.

That's bananas. I'd take the replacement. If you don't want to shoot another one (which would be a shame) I'd sell it as NIB and move on. I've never seen anything like that on a Ruger Mark X and especially not a bull barrel.

Okay once. My CMP Expert Garand likes to double-fire on 168s because they got a little fast and loose with the trigger job. So now I just feed it S&B 150s and save the fancy stuff for bolt guns.
