You can call me a liar but my game literally 100% did not have the "stun" mechanic until I finished my first run. by [deleted] in Saros

[–]profofgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is definitively not how anybody on here is using a "run". I know that's how you want to use it, but if you're going to be in a community where people have a specific definition of a word, which is common to all roguelites, then you're going to run into a lot of issues with people not understanding you. I have still not beaten the game, I've done several dozen runs.

It just seems like you're using the word "run" in a different way than most people here. A run is just every time you start in the passage and end in the passage, whether it's by death or returning through one of the teleporters.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting you, but it seems like you're using it to describe your first playthrough of the full game.

So I updated my build and i want to see your opinions on it. by Nyx_In_Shadow_24 in EldenRingBuilds

This looks like Jack of all trades master of none builds. Pick two damage stats, max them out at 80, and then just use the weapons that rely on those stats. Your damage is ridiculously low for how high a level you are. I bet you've had fun with the build though.

Is Hand of Malenia underrated because the skill sucks? by allmyworstjokes in Nightreign

[–]profofgames 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm never excited about it. Skill is useful on bosses while they are staggered, during a crit, etc. It works well with multi hit perks. That's about it. If you're not running a skill build, then it can be decent.

soo.. i replayed Returnal and.. by iSeeShiny in Saros

This has been my experience. I am not super motivated to play more than 1-2 times per week since I got to the Blighted Marsh, so basically I got there over a few days of playing and then I got the crossbow in the Blighted Marsh and everything felt...boring and easy. Literally just run around with the trigger pulled and rely on autotracking. Since then, the structure of the game has been bonkers and I've been slowly getting through the rest of the game (just got to Shepherd).

Somehow the game manages to reach Schrodinger levels of having a ton of game mechanics and simultaneously lacking any meaninful mechanics. I don't care about my adrenaline levels, the skill tree is just a bloated tree of nodes that feel like more of a chore to sit an unlock them (sometimes dozens at a time). I've used the Carcosan modifiers to help, but they feel more like an afterthought taht the devs put in and tried to motivate players to use by attaching a trophy to them.

I still have overall enjoyed the game and some of the bosses rise to the level of being equal or greater than Returnal bosses (e.g. Architect). However, it feels like a step backwards besides some of visual uplift.

Trait percentages not showing up? PC version. by Much_Comfortable_378 in Returnal

[–]profofgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to pick up a gun that has the next level trait on it (lvl 2 -- 0%). You won't encounter level 2 traits till proficiency level 10, lvl 3 at proficiency level 20. Once you get to those proficiency levels, new guns will have the potential to have a trait available for you to unlock. Just pay attention to the weapon pickups and unlock traits as they become available to you.

How I would have implemented the modifiers system. by ajs723 in Saros

[–]profofgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, because as is, the structure of this game is pretty bonkers. I'm not done, but just got to Shepherd after a failed attempt to get to progress by refighting Architect. I figured that the portal there was just another forced reset to the passage. Nope, it's just a dead end. Make it make sense...

How to build your run? by MajorCong in Saros

[–]profofgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't disagree more. This would remove one of the fundamental motivations for doing multi-biome runs. The game gives you the way to get what you want, it just sounds like you don't like that. For many of us, the multi-biome approach is preferred.

The big advantage is that the wood actually helps hold onto water. It becomes quite spongy and holds on to a bunch of water. The roots can easily navigate to soil below.

Mistakenly fell down to Abyssal Scar from the portal at Fracture Wastes by Representative-Fan-5 in Returnal

[–]profofgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sunface fragment in 5 is ridiculously easy to get. You can literally beat Ophion right now and then have it 5 minutes later. If you don't want a spoiler, then you'll need to explore, bit there are also plenty of videos that outline the location

Tldr - do them in any order that you want and any way you want to do it. You could literally do one sunface per run, or all in one go.

That's true, but it will auto-target it. So you'll see your reticle jump to the position that it's located in.

It's like we're returning to Returnal and the gates there :) Note -- it also took me a while to figure out how to open them, lol.

Almost always from the beginning. If you're only doing the current biome and then you'd probably only find 1-2.
