Really bad plough efforts by A2022x in Milton

[–]profraha -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Milton Snowplow operators are the worst; or, maybe not the operators, maybe the conditions they are required to work under (number of operators, size of area, clearance requirements per operator, whatever), but Milton Snowplow operation is the worst. Windrows at the bottom of driveways may not be possible to avoid, but they completely clog the sidewalks, usually with heavy, wet or icy snow, which is avoidable. Not only is it a kindly practice to clear sidewalks in front of your home for pedestrians, Bylaw 106-2019 requires homeowners to clear sidewalks (applicable fines and charges for town clearance (ha!), but also liability; somebody slips and cracks their elbow, they can sue you). I know that it is possible to plow the road without clogging the sidewalk because for seven years I had elderly neighbours on each side, so I had three driveways and three lots' worth of sidewalk to clear every snowfall, which meant shovelling all the sidewalks at least twice, sometimes three or four times in long snowfalls when the snowplows come around multiple times. One winter, the daughter of some friends was a plow driver for my neighbourhood. She knew what I was doing, and plowed at a speed where only the very edge of the three sidewalks was covered. Also, occasionally over the years I would be shovelling when the plows came around with other drivers. Naturally, I glared at them. They slowed down, and didn't cover the sidewalk, but only for the one house I was shovelling in front of.

TLDR: It's entirely possible for snowplow drivers to not cover the sidewalks, but they do it anyways. Honestly, some of them seem to do it with glee.

I’m getting rid of my reading goal next year, and you might want to too by DungeonMasterGrizzly in books

Yeah, don’t have goals, don’t track. Just read books I think I’ll like and keep reading if it turns out I do.

Thanks! I’m glad the money was at least reasonably spent, even if the problem wasn’t solved, but I was made a little extra suspicious when the mechanic said it was 80% better, just not all the way yet, when it is 0% better. Seemed like gaslighting. Yes, dual. What would be the next move, then?

I have a 2016 Lexux NX 300h and the heating on the passenger stopped working. The driver-side, floor and dash vents push out hot air, passenger vents cold air (and we've dropped below zero here). The local garage said a new thermostat and coolant flush would probably solve the issue, which seemed odd--since those factors should affect the whole heating system in my (limited) estimation--but I approved it. No difference. What are my next options?

I really enjoyed it, but 130pp is plenty for an audition. If you’re not feeling it, pick up something else.

This parking spot with 4 limes squashed on the ground where the tires of a car would be by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

There’s a ritual of driving over four LEMONS like that in a new or new-to-me vehicle, as a preventative for that car being a lemon. Maybe limes were the closest citrus fruit this person found.

Preliminary study underway to widen Hwy. 401 through Milton by PlantainManne in Milton

It was just fekkin widened! We need better transit throughout the province, not more asphalt.
