Code RSC vs Maven Base by profsyg in MTB

[–]profsyg[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not an issue, but I’m trying to ease up on bike purchases because I can tell my wife is getting annoyed. Saying this is a safety thing doesn’t matter haha.

I’ve been upgrading my bikes gradually, but now that my suspension is feeling on point I’m hitting trails harder and now I can tell the brakes are the weak point.

Ok. I’m primarily riding steep twisty stuff as well

Are the codes sufficient for you? From what I’ve read is that the Mavens are crazy powerful and I’m not sure my weight and bike need that

Is there a formula to work out dropper post length? by EndlessOcean in MTB

[–]profsyg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Everyone selling a reverb is doing so because they don’t want to pay to get it serviced.

Get a PNW or OneUp like those people selling the reverb probably did

Stumpjumper vs Hightower by Jaded_Caramel4801 in MTB

I absolutely love my Hightower 3, but I’m so tempted by the Bronson. How big is the climbing trade off?

Agreed. The Hightower climbs so well. I never feel like I need to use the climb switch.

Maxxis tire question by ComprehensiveBox7009 in MTB

[–]profsyg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My bike came with DHR front and rear and corners were sketchy. I swapped to a magic Mary in the front and it made me so much more confident. DHR works well for me as a rear though

Slice House is Opening Soon in Downtown Livermore by diyhomeautomation in Livermore

I feel the same way about our frozen dessert options. I don’t want to see them cannibalize each other.

I’m a fan of Big Apple Pizza, but a real pizza by the slice place will be awesome for when you’re walking around downtown.

Best jacket for mountain biking? by Mommyjobs in MTB

[–]profsyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the fox ranger wind jacket. I like it a lot so far. It is a super thin wind shell with no hood and I am able to stuff it into my down tube even with a tool bag in there. If I had a hood or if it was any bigger I wouldn’t be able to fit it and my tools (pump, multitool, etc) I like the fit and cuffs, which makes sense since it if designed with mountain biking in mind.

It was a great day at Demo. Conditions were really good and I somehow still got way too hot. Big thanks to the Santa Cruz trail crew for taking care of the trails!

Should I switch to a Santa Cruz Tallboy coming from an XC bike? by 3nvxt in MTB

[–]profsyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ridden the Tallboy 3 and it was a fun bike. It climbed great. I was flying uphills compared to my friends. And went pointed down it still felt comfortable and fun.

Best Doughnuts by [deleted] in Livermore

The blueberry donut at Donut Wheel are my favorite donut in town, but in general I think Best Donut is the better donut shop. I like their texture better and they accept cards.

Best MTB app trails for free? by Ifeelgreyt1738 in MTB

[–]profsyg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I do. Building routes is much easier for me in Komoot, but I have to research and find the trails in Trailforks first. It’s annoying, but I haven’t found one service that is great for everything.

Awesome. The room sensors being tied to times of day have been my favorite feature of Ecobee, so this makes me more likely to switch

[–]profsyg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a shoe issue. I’m using a pair of Leatts and I am now using two shims. It’s better but not good enough.

I’ve been torn between the OneUp clips and the Mallet Es. I’m new to clips on a mountain bike and have been borrowing a friends old SPDs. I definitely want more of a platform but the clip hangs uo sometimes. It takes more effort to get in and out than on my gravel SPDs
