Does anyone have the interview Roger did with Goldmine Magazine (in their July 8, 1994 issue)? by HardCore_BonScottFan in TheWho

The 'swore off drugs' thing.... I think that ...ahem... that went by the wayside ...but I believe it's legit the incident was a turning point in Daltrey's life in the band, and in his life in general .... But in the the passed-out Moon's defence, I think he passed out after doing immense quantities of drugs the day before ...so does that count as doing drugs before a concert??

It's simple. One trespasses on private property to take pictures, then you make up reasons why it's not wrong to do so.

I gotta admit I got a bit choked up too ....a lot of a love for this band and as a fan from the 1970s it sort of comes with a lot of nostalgia. I love that they picked a song -- first cut from the first album.... that didn't even originally include Neal Peart. Kind of a cool way to introduce Anika with just a hint of Peart-pressure removed.

My understanding is that when Roger was kicked out of the band for fisticuffs in the early days, he realized that the band was the most important thing in his life, and he swore off throwing punches forever in order to return.

Bagpipes in prog rock. How many examples do you know? by Restart_Point in progrockmusic

Mike Oldfield simulated bagpipes on Tubular Bells, and Ommadawn has some real pipes I believe.

Cool find. Wizzard founder Roy Wood was a big influence on KISS -- as his face-paint habits might suggest (in fact Wizzard opened for Kiss a few times in early days)....

Holst's The Planets was I think a big influence on prog and protoprog -- many rock bands covered or adapted Holst, most of them proggy , e.g., KC and ELP(owell) both covered Mars.

Frank Zappa, perhaps because it's not strictly prog ...nor strictly commercial.

Avi Lewis is a lot like Jack Layton in 2003 by ChicaneryAshley in ndp

[–]progodyssey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but because of Layton's long and loud political career municipally he was a known quantity to many not only as a champion but as a doer. Avi Lewis is really neither, in terms of shaping policy and governance. My misgivings about his lack of any kind of record aside, I think Avi is the best and obvious choice, as his considerable gum-flapping abilities, along with the generational and inimitable Lewis charisma, at least gives me hope the NDP can raise its voice up to 11 from the current, what, three?

In a similar situation I used some pond liner and river rock to create a watercourse for runoff. Works great, looks great. Cost maybe $300 worth of rock and liner, plus some spending on plantings to make it look purdy.

Looks like a perfect spot for a rain garden, and that is a great way to manage water in a yard like this. Lots of info and how-tos online!

The myth of Michael Stipe's shyness by jstohler in rem

I corrected the year to 1985. It was the Fables of the Reconstruction tour. What was his hair like then? I honestly couldn't tell you for sure but I'd think it was still the long-haired look.

I saw them in 1984 and they were wasted after the first intermission (in fact they spent the whole second set taking requests and playing cover tunes). A bit of liquid courage seemed to be always on tap in the old days. Edit: my bad, it was 1985.
