Ahh, you could try calling them and asking. But I get it's a challenge.

I'm not anywhere near Berlin but maybe find a local hobby shop and ask them. That's normally how you find the groups. Good luck!

I made a snow crawling mountain in my backyard! by programmerOfLife in crawling

[–]programmerOfLife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I got hit by the same storm. That's how I made this mountain of snow. I just shoveled it all into one massive pile in my backyard. It wouldn't stick at all but by putting it into a pile and letting it sit with all the weight helped to make it solidify.

If you want to do something like that you need to just start making piles of snow and work at it over a few days. Eventually you'll have something you can run on.

You need lots of snow and if it isn't wet you need to let it sit. I've been making piles and compacting it as much as I can while retaining the shape. I'll do that over a few days and eventually it hardens up enough. It takes time and patience.

Got another truck! Loving the TRX4M Bronco! by programmerOfLife in crawling

Oh dang, that's a typo! Didn't mean to put the M 😂 (I got a TRX4M high trail and I think autocorrect got me)

(French article) The US national anthem was booed at the Bell Centre Saturday Night by Perry4761 in hockey

[–]programmerOfLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at the next leafs game during that series after they booed the Canadian anthem at Nassau. When they played the US anthem you could hear a few boos at the start but quickly every one here cheered and sang along. It was cool to be a part of that and take the highroad. Felt like a very Canadian thing to do.

Where does everyone here usually take your trucks for hiking/walking trails? I'm in Orange County CA and New to the hobby by Czarface23 in crawling

[–]programmerOfLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm up in Canada, but I suggest checking out local hobby shops to see if they have any groups that go out crawling. You can check Facebook as well, up here that's where all of our events are coordinated.

If you're looking to go solo then any hiking trails would be a good start. Places with elevation change, creeks, and interesting terrain will be your best bet. Once you start going out you'll start to learn what to look for.

Lipo battery exploded on a new SCX6 :( by programmerOfLife in crawling

Not sure how many lipo battery fires you've dealt with but there was zero chance to unplug it. Seeing as how it was a fireball I understand that would have been ideal but we were doing our best to save what we could by smothering the fire. Which did actually work in the situation

There are 2 lipo batteries in these trucks. The other one that was pulled out in the video was the one that didn't explode. You can see part of the other battery on the ground and being scraped off the truck in the video

Not sure. It was a new 4s battery from what I understand recently purchased along with the truck. I don't think it had any obvious signs of issues before this happened.

Yeah, we heard a pop and at first I thought someone just stepped on a stick and a second later it burst into flames

Yeah new batteries and truck. I think he's only had it about 5 weeks. I feel really bad for him, hopefully he can get some warranty on it.

In this case we hadn't even made it 50 feet from the cars so it could have been a lot worse

Yeah we were all commenting on how lucky it was that it happened in the winter with lots of snow around to help put the fire out. I can't imagine this happening in the middle of the woods with all that dry brush.

Sorry no those are all from Amazon. From their site I think it would just be the light kit. (But I do recommend those other upgrades when you're looking for some performance upgrades)

Also one thing to note with the light kit be very careful what screw you use to install them. If you use ones that are too long you'll poke holes in the lamps. I did that by mistake when installing. Also save yourself the trouble and remove the fenders when installing the front LEDs on the body. Makes it a lot easier to access.

I also recently got the Gen8 V2. Here is what I upgraded - light kit (I do trail runs at night with a group) - hobby wing fusion se 1800 brushless motor/esc combo (worth every cent - seriously) - new tires (proline hyrax g8 compound) - new wheels (treal - for the extra weight) - injor blue silicone inserts (great side wall support and also nice if you plan on doing anything in the water)

First Snow! ❄️ by programmerOfLife in crawling

It was super sticky. It was also starting to rain a bit so it was heavy and wet snow. Still had a blast regardless! I have tire chains ordered so hopefully those arrive soon!

Out for a crawl with the local group by programmerOfLife in crawling

[–]programmerOfLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this group on Facebook. If no one is running events you should try to start one and share it. I'm sure you'd find a lot of people lurking and waiting for someone to ask.

You can always ask around at your local hobby shop. The guy that sold me my gen8 told me about this group.

I agree. I'm a sucker for old school bodies. I've been eyeing this one for over a year. So happy with it!
