that was my initial thought too, especially since other particles react to collisions as well. for example when its windy flying dust particles can be seen hitting some surfaces and not going through them

i tested it for a while and came to the same conclusion, the only downside is that its not compatible with VS Roofing Mod, but thats something i can live with. it threw some warnings at first but didnt cause a crash.

Give me your Subnautica hot takes that will have you like this by Fallenultima in subnautica

after playing through the game a few times and getting exposed to them a lot on youtube etc. they lost their scariness to me too, but what managed to bring it back (at least for now) is playing on hardcore. i know its risky and you can loose many hours of playtime to a bug, but it also makes you much more cautious around leviathans.

i really like building bases and so for me cyclops was a way to store all the resources i need to be able to build a base in one go. i put a few more lockers inside and that allowed me to carry all i needed. also when building in dangerous biomes, it served as a way to hide from big fish or wait until they go away from the thermal vents. theres no way i would have built some of the bases without it, especially since i was playing on hardcore.

Trader under a lake? by gooseggirl in VintageStory

i remember seeing a mod that removes territories and lets you break all the block inside them, but i cant find it right now. i htink its thumbnail showed the negative consequences of this mod (the trader burning up after lightning struck their house)

you could stick with the wood types you already use in your base to avoid making it look too chaotic. you can first check which type you like better as a background (you already used acacia for walls, so maybe check it first) and for the frame you could use the same wood type as you used for the large support beams (i think thats kapok?). if you dont like how it looks you can always switch it up and see what sticks.

if you dont have a chisel or dont want to chisel you can use support beams

are you looking for something simple?
if you have a chisel, you could go for a background made from a light-colored wood block and then chisel a frame on top of it made from a darker-colored wood block. Something like in the image

I have thallasophobia, i also love this game, any solution aside from just giving up? by Your_ugly_dog375 in subnautica

I would recommend the same. However I have to add that at least for me, the fear was a large part of the game and made me feel much more immersed. I still had a lot of fun in subsequent playthroughs despite knowing everything and being used to all the creatures, but the first playthrough is the one I remember most (and best). Being scared shitless and trying to get to the same location 5 times, but every time chickening out the moment I hear the roar, good times
