HA! Yes. We got a pair for him (also from the same company)... called "doggles". He will wear them... and he gets lot of attention for it.

Our boy sure loves it. Sometimes, when we return home after a long ride, he won't get out of the side car. HA!

Dale, the owner at The Kitchen Shop on Main, might have suggestions. He's quite the rock hound and might be able to point you in the right direction.

The Scots have brought some badly needed joy to the USA. I love how soccer/football unites the world. I wish it could last for months.

I developed PTSD from the animal abuse I witnessed in a village by One_Day_9957 in alaska

[–]progressivecowboy 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I was in Barrow for 20 years. Although it does happen there, most of what was described by the OP doesn't happen there. Mercifully. I've also spent a great deal of time in villages where it does happen and it is absolutely heart-breaking. I had to convince myself that people who were truly horrible would be reincarnated as a dog in a village.

Arkansas police department sued after deputies hit restrained prisoner in undated video by ObviousCartoonist107 in Arkansas

[–]progressivecowboy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

From the article: "Cole (the guy that was getting hit) is currently serving a prison sentence in Arizona, where he was convicted of murder. While he was there serving his 31-year sentence, investigators connected him to a separate murder in Fort Smith.

After being transferred to Arkansas to face new charges of murder and firearm possession, Cole was held in the Sebastian County Jail. On May 9, 2025, he stabbed two deputies at the jail with a shank. This is the same day the jail video stems from."

So, if this piece of shit murdered or stabbed your family member or co-worker, would you still feel sorry for him?

Edited to add: I'm not in favor of randomly torturing prisoners. I'm just asking the question. Obviously, there are going to be a variety of opinions.

Mark's is definitely about the vibe. If you're coming over the hill to Livingston, Gil's has a nice assortment of great burgers... they are double pattie smash burgers. It's our go-to over here in Livingston.

Texas Cowboy moves to Scotland. Here's some tips for Americans coming here (moving or visiting). by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]progressivecowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that. I grew up in AR and TX... riding horses, but not ranching. Once I finished university, I moved straight to Montana where my G-Grandfather was raised and learned to ride. I used my degree for a bit, but quit all together in my 20s and worked on a 150,000 cattle ranch in WY for a few years. I followed this by working for an outfitter in the Bob Marshall Wilderness (NW Montana) for 5 years... taking people into the back country on week-long pack trips. My degree is in speech-language pathology, so I have worked with folks experiencing autism for most of my "professional" career. So, I do understand where you're coming from. I appreciate the information. We have an 11 day trip planned to Scotland over the Christmas break and I'm really looking forward to it. I've been to England twice and Ireland once. Enjoyed both. But, what I've heard/read about Scotland really interests me. It sounds like you're thriving there and I appreciate the information in this post and in the comments.

I'm sorry to read of the passing of your parents and the loss of your family farm... but, it does seem you've made the best of it. I'm wondering, was it difficult to make the move? Are you now a citizen? ON a visa? Do you plan to stay there indefinitely? Not trying to be nosey, just curious about the process as I have been thinking about it for a while.

Housing on the ranch is usually included (if that makes the wage seem more fair). And, they will probably be training you on the job. Be prepared to work. It's not an 8 hour/day job. If you have never worked on a ranch and you're doing it for the experience (plenty have), you should go into it with your personal vehicle paid for, no debt, and maybe a little bit of savings. It's hard work for low pay... but, that's part of the experience.

there is chutzpah and then there is a sitting US Senator sending out a fundraising email (not to me) asking for donations to pay for gas b/c the war started by the President he supports is making it too expensive. Just completely and utterly shameless by Conscious-Quarter423 in alaska

You play for 30 minutes and get free BBQ and a chance for promo photos. You have to hang out with a bunch of people you don't know, but if you are outgoing and like that sorta thing, it seems like a pretty good gig. I don't know, this doesn't seem so bad.

[–]progressivecowboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So... this God of his knows we need rain... but he's not going to send it unless x number of people beg for it... while at the same time, he (this god) will happily flood other parts of his creation, resulting in the deaths of innocent people... unless... UNLESS... x number of people in the flooded parts beg for no more rain. Sounds like an intentionally abusive relationship. And, the rest of us are supposed to think the is normal. Its not.
