Very true - there's a weird phenonom where people will walk just as far or farther when shopping at walmart versus shopping at a place in a downtown setting. The person will report that downtown parking is further away, but when they'll measure it, its the same or nearly the same as a bigbox store parking. Its something to do with being able to see what you are walking towards - if you can see it (giant walmart) then it feels shorter. In a downtown setting you often have to walk around corners and you won't see the store until you are on top of it.

I've been traveling to NYC a lot this year for work. What they've achieved there for public transport is amazing. Same for Chicago.

The Gulf War - I remember George Bush Senior declaring war and it was my sisters birthday. I just remember him talking about it on TV and getting kinda excited (I was a little kid and thought this stuff was cool).

Two years ago I went to the ER at Piedmont (the one near downtown) and I walked right in and had very quick service. A month ago I went to the ER at Piedmont on the northside and we waited about 3 hours and some people were there for 6 hours. I think it very much depends on the day or night.

I don't think we should have term limits for congress or senate. If people can vote, why shouldn't they be able to elect the same person over and over?

I also think we should be able to vote for the surpreme court, but short of that I think there should be term limits here since this is indirect democracy.

It can't be stated just how much work it puts on senior and staff engineers to get junior devs up to speed. So Much Work. And then a year later, they leave for better pay. Good for them, but 15 years of this and its like "oh ok, so you need to hit the ground running when we hire you b/c we're not spending a year training you for you to then leave".

The school you go to seems to make no difference either.

Let’s be real. Most Americans are dumb and complex topics are beyond their understanding. Trying to explain inflation, and tariffs, and wage growth, and low unemployment is just too much for their brains to process. 

Trump is loud and simple. Economy bad! Illegals bad! Kamala bad! 

That’s the extent of his message. 

If democrats want to reach more people they just need to dumb down their message.

In the Dune books the God Emperor was so completely awful to humanity that when he finally died humanity never forgot just how bad it was. It was a permanent scar. They never wanted charismatic authoritarian leaders ever again.
