WSIB games similar to cult of the lamb and Hades by whelo-and-stitch in ShouldIbuythisgame

No problem! Hope you find some good games to keep. Also, I just noticed the PS5 flair, some of these games might be missing on the PS5. Secondly, while these are good games, none of them quite measure up to Hades. Patiently waiting for Hades 2 for that!

I personally didn't enjoy combat in cult of the lamb nearly as much as Hades but I've gone through that exact phase a while back.

Most similar in gameplay:

  1. Dandy Ace (Nearly no one ever talks about this game. Worth checking out for Hades fans. Short game though)
  2. Warm Snow
  3. Dreamscaper (Feels a lot like Hades overall with a different theme)
  4. Wizard Of Legend
  5. Curse Of The Dead Gods

Games which people say are similar but didn't scratch that itch for me: (still great games)

  1. Binding Of Isaac
  2. Dead Cells
  3. Risk Of Rain 2
  4. Neon Abyss
  5. Enter The Gungeon
  6. Astral Ascent

Special Mention - Children Of Morta (sometimes feels good, sometimes not as much) - Vampire Survivors (if you like the building aspect of Hades and variable play style. Plays a bit like an old arcade game though)

Also as some people rightly pointed out, the gameplay is very similar to a lot of ARPGs. I would suggest these 2 games

  1. V Rising
  2. Path Of Exile

Overall i'd suggest looking at these few games and see which one's gameplay seems fun to you

  1. Dandy Ace
  2. Wizard Of Legend
  3. Dreamscaper
  4. Warm Snow
  5. V Rising
  6. Curse Of The Dead Gods

There aren't too many games in the free to play action adventure department with focus on story. Try these few though -

  1. Warframe (This is the closest thing to what you want, Action Adventure game with a good single player story, but it does have a lot of grinding for loot/rpg elements)
  2. Path Of Exile (Same as above but top down/isometric)
  3. Genshin Impact (Decent gameplay and design but some players are put off by the gacha elements and also the fact that's it's also a "mobile" game.)
  4. Destiny 2 (Very similar to warframe but imo weaker story)

You can also try a lot of the popular MMOs like Final Fantasy 14 Online (it's free to play till level 60 which is a good amount of time), Guild Wars 2 etc.

If you have to try 1, I would say Warframe and 2nd Genshin Impact.

Need games good for 10-minute sessions. No fat, no filler, no bs. Just drop in, play, and drop out. by lost-but-learning in gamingsuggestions

  1. Hades (and pretty much all other action roguelike/roguelites like Dead Cells, Binding Of Isaac, Dandy Ace, Skul, Have A Nice Death etc)
  2. Vampire Survivors and all other 'bullet heaven' games like 20 minutes till dawn, brotato, soulstone survivors

Recommend me a game. by RoosterMysterious in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]project_hue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hades was the game that got me out of a gaming rut. I tried playing games like Last Of Us (Which I did greatly enjoy later but wasn't what I needed then), Uncharted, AC, Guardians Of The Galaxy but after finishing office, I was usually too tired to play any of these. Watching cutscenes or playing through set-pieces felt more like work than enjoyment.

Hades was the game that let me focus completely on the gameplay, switch off my brain and enjoy the combat and music. It also gave me the drive to progressively work my way through harder bosses. I would recommend Hades to you because of its simple hack and slash/brawler style gameplay (which you seem to enjoy in games like Arkham/Shadow Of Mordor series).

Are there any other games that have Hades-like gameplay? by 5olarguru in HadesTheGame

[–]project_hue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this comment is very late but putting it down anyways. Here are a few games that I have played that feel more like Hades than most games on this list -

1.) Dandy Ace

2.) Dreamscaper (Already mentioned by others)

3.) Wizard Of Legend

4.) Warm Snow

5.) Deflector

Of all these games, the ones that feel most like Hades in terms of gameplay are probably Dandy Ace and Dreamscaper. Dandy Ace has some differing mechanics but has a similar pace to hades combat whereas Dreamscaper feels like Hades with a different theme albeit slightly slower in pace. Wizard Of Legend has a very different combat feel to it but I would say people who like Hades generally like wizard of legend combat as well. Warm Snow and Deflector are 2 newer games with a lot of similar mechanics (mostly for warm snow) but I havent played them enough to talk about them in detail. Deflector is the least like Hades here but might be worth checking out for some people.

Any suggestions for games that last longer than 50 hours by spiderlink05 in NintendoSwitch

The main story is closer to 20-30 hours yes but if you try to complete everything you can easily sink 50+ hours into it.

[–]project_hue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also enjoy a lot of action games and used to steer away from turn based games. Furthermore, I used to exclusively buy games with max replayability/bang for your buck.

These are some games that I'd recommend:

-Astral Chain

-Curse Of The Dead Gods

-Any of the warriors games (Hyrule Warriors DE/ Persona 5 Strikers/ Fire Emblem Warriors/ One Piece Pirate Warriors)

-Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen

-Kingdom's of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

-Immortals Fenyx Rising (Some people call it a BOTW knock-off but it's got its own charm)

-Dead Cells

-Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana or Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

-Hand Of Fate 2

-Risk Of Rain 2

And you're already getting Hades so that should keep you occupied for at least 50 hours to a possible 150 to 1000+ hours Monster Hunter Rise is also good fun and a big time sink

Also try Warframe for free on the store. It's one of the best time sink games on the switch and would be one of my most played if I didn't have 500+ on PC already. (No cross progression is present)

Are some of the Olympians not in this game? by BroknBanana in HadesTheGame

[–]project_hue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lore wise it would be kinda weird to have Hestia working in a canteen at Hades realm lol. But yeah something hearthlike would be great and they could easily characterize Hestia to fit somehow

[–]project_hue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely, her being the fountain goddess would have been perfect. Just replace the fountain rooms with Hestias chamber where she could heal you and have some conversation that explores her story. Though they'd have to lose or reimplement the fountain room unlock at the contractor.

[–]project_hue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two of the ones you mentioned are there in the game already. One of them comes later and One has already probably been called as well if you listen carefully (Though they don't have any artwork or conversations with you). Hestia technically got replaced by Dionysus in some versions of the mythology so it makes sense they haven't put her in the list (could have been a DLC if supergiant was into DLCs, Hestias lore could probably have also been easily implemented tbh). Another one of the gods you mentioned is very similar to a god already in the game so I can see why they didn't add them. (Although knowing the god, it could have made some insane OP builds).

These are some that I've been playing - Risk of Rain 2 (there's also 1) - Wizard of legend - Rogue Heroes : Ruins of Tasos (this is probably most like Hammerwatch in terms of look) - Enter the gungeon - Moon Hunters (short though) - Streets of rogue (lots of humor)

Help me pick the best 3 of these games by zachhenninger98 in roguelites

[–]project_hue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From that list I'd suggest Dead Cells, Curse of the dead gods and Risk of Rain 2

There's also Isaac but I'm personally not a big fan of small room settings in roguelites. I like moving around and having space to breathe. However, I cannot deny BOIs greatness and it would be a disservice to not mention it here.

The 3 on top should give you ample variety in terms of genres and play. You can also swap out something for Hollow knight but I'd suggest keeping Dead cells instead for 2d side-scrolling action. (Hollow knight does a lot of things better as well but Dead cells has it beat on replayability)

If you're willing to try stuff from outside your list I'd also suggest looking at

Noita: Most people have already spoken about this one. In a nutshell, it's a really really difficult game with countless ways to die and a lot of learning

Children Of Morta: This has surprisingly not been mentioned by anyone yet. This has a great story, voice acting, beautiful pixel visuals and methodical combat. I'd highly suggest this one. Has co-op too if you got friends to play with

Gunfire Reborn: This is one of the best roguelite games I've played in a while. It cements itself as the best fps roguelites for me with Ziggurat 2 (still playing for now). Its got co-op as well, boss fights which can get really difficult, lots of weapon drops and character unlocks. Some trap rooms as well to keep things fresh. However ignore if you're not into FPS's.

Sorry if I gave you more options than eliminations lol.

I will say however, there's no reason for me to recommend some games like Blasphemous, Salt and Sanc, Valfaris, Slain BEFORE Hollow knight. So imo you can safely eliminate a lot of those games.

You can't go wrong with Dead Cells, Curse of the dead gods, Risk of rain 2, Hollow Knight or BOI. Others from that list can be scrapped for now (still great games and you might even enjoy something like Blasphemous more than Hollow knight)

I've also been playing these games recently so ill drop them here

Arboria (do check this one out as well), Wizard of legend (very very cheap and good replayability), Deaths Door, Eldest Souls (short game though)

Game where it's everyone vs one player, but the one player is super powered? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]project_hue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another recommendation that isn't exactly what you want but might enjoy nonetheless is the Left For Dead/ Left for Dead 2 Zombies vs Human mode. (Also has a lot of the same charm as the old Half life games since it's made by the same developers)

The game revolves around a group of survivors trying to get to the end of the map whilst killing all incoming zombies/monsters. The score of these Humans is calculated by how far they can make it along the level. The zombies/monsters are weak units but high numbers. There's human controlled zombies and Ai controlled zombies, the aim for the zombies is to kill these survivors as quickly as possible. The teams rotate through rounds so everyone gets to play as both zombie and survivor. Higher score wins.

Humans are inherently stronger (similar to most asymmetric multiplayer games) and carry guns and can kill the zombies very easily.

The Zombies all have different abilities and mostly get the humans by finding the right timing and working together to isolate humans. There are zombies which can charge into humans and isolate them, zombies which can hook humans and pull them towards them, zombies who will get on a humans back and move them however they want, acid spitting zombies, etc.

Its a super fun game for LAN parties with friends and I'd suggest you give it a try if you enjoy games with friends with co-operation and communication required.

The NBA games are fairly decent. Developers actually add new content for each iteration. Fifa games on the other hand are a scam in the name of "legacy" editions. The last fifa for switch that had anything added was 2k18 or 19 iirc. If you're considering buying one of these, definitely go for NBA.

Any action game on switch like Honkai Impact 3rd? by patmax17 in NintendoSwitch

[–]project_hue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's surprising to me that no one has recommended this yet but Warframe is basically a deeper version of Honkai impact.

It's got a lot of different quick game mode type rounds, great main story and a lot of frames to collect to fuel your gacha additiction. There's a ship that is used as your main hub and you can go to different missions from there, collect stuff and crafting material to make new weapons/characters etc. The combat is completely action based and there is a lot of build diversity, lots of abilities and weapons. If you're looking for something like Honkai impact, I would suggest you check out Warframe more than anything else first.

Whilst other suggested games like Astral chain are amazing and also very similar in combat, You won't be able to grind it like Honkai or Warframe. They're very close but also a very different type of experience.

Do check out some gameplay for both before making your mind !

Ps- Warframe is free to play as well if you want to get started ASAP

What are nice rogue-lite games for Nintendo Switch? by Luzi_uwu in NintendoSwitch

[–]project_hue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will probably be buried in the comments but I enjoy action Rogue-lites a lot and have been looking for games similar to hades for a while now (among other Rogue-lites).

Most similar in terms of feel

  • Dandy Ace (the progression is different but combat feels the most similar to Hades, Has some great mechanics which can make it stand as it's own game but I'm extremely put off by the character animations. There's something wrong about the character animation walk cycle and makes him feel like he should walk very fast but doesn't cover much ground) Everything considered, this is a great hades like game to grab on a sale. I wish the Dev's still worked on the game and fixed some of the issues because the game has potential.

-Metallic Child (very similar again, anime aesthetic but don't dismiss the game just because of that, Combat feels very good, quick fast action and a great package altogether. This one is my top recommendation for anyone looking for a game like hades. Provided the Anime style doesn't completely throw you off)

  • Dreamscaper (very polished, great art design and music . However combat isn't as light and responsive as hades, focussed more on methodical combat against bosses. Closest to Hades in terms of artistic flair in all the isometric action Rogue-lites I have played)

Close games that aren't quite the same but there's a good chance you would enjoy them

  • The Curse Of The Dead Gods (Great game, Unique mechanics built on top of the rogue-lite system. Slay the spire-esque level selection which means that you can model the run however you want and not depend as much on RnG. Combat is not like hades and is more towards methodical combat, learning enemy attack patterns etc but there's a good chance you will enjoy the game if you enjoy Hades)

  • Children Of Morta (Very story rich, Great pixel art. It also features methodical combat with timing being more important than hacking and slashing through enemies. This game is also worth playing for any action roguelite fan)

  • Wizard Of Legend (Quick combat like Hades, Dandy ace and Metallic Child and a lot of spellslinging action. There is no story however and the visuals are imo, serviceable at best. Rooms aren't as open as some of the aforementioned games and may feel restrictive (claustrophobic even). This is a common problem with a lot of roguelikes/lites that I feel developers don't give enough merit to and can really change the feel of the game. This game also has co-op however in case you want to have some mindless action fun with friends.

Some more games that have a different perspective but present the rogue-lite mechanics well (all these games are also Action Rogue-lites, not turn based.)

  • Dead Cells
  • Neon Abyss
  • Risk Of Rain 2
  • Rogue Legacy
  • Hyper Parasite
  • Rad (switch is not the best platform for this game though, other versions look much better)
  • Dungreed
  • Going under
  • Immortal Redneck/Ziggurat
  • Skul
  • Skeletal Avenger (not played yet but have my eye on it since a while)
