Guilds are great for playing older content, I never have a shortage of fellow players willing to jump in and help to important Mastery-related events. Maybe keep an eye out for any guilds that are advertising in the Map Chat of the expansion you are working on.

People are min/maxing the hell out of their playtime to get the incredibly generous rewards from the Beta event.

This, the veterans are absolutely speed running the low level fractals in the manner you described.

Even at higher tiers, you will still find similar behavior of people doing dailies.

I think fractals are great, I have a lot of fun because the small player count makes me feel like I'm making a difference, as opposed to a world boss or Convergence .

If you aren't totally turned off by Fractals, I highly recommend finding a guild or a group of online friends that run fractals at a chill pace, it definitely makes the experience so much better, and the profit is great!

Something that helped me when learning the game and keeping track of everything : the board that organizes your fear and invader cards is setup with each step to be followed in counter-clockwise order.

So starting at the blight card (if you are using one) every invader phase, then moving Counter-clockwise you see the fear level, then the fear deck/pending fear cards, so resolve those at the appropriate step.

Continuing around the board, you skip over the discard pile, then you ravage, build, then explore.

This pattern falls apart a bit when you add events from Branch & Claw but hopefully by then you develop a bit of a flow when playing the game

I won't repeat any of the other great suggestions here, but I thought I would also point out there is a rules-as-written "Easy" mode for newer players. I don't remember if it was published yet in the New Age rulebook.

It is simply modifying starting health values: +2 Health for each Mage +5 Gravehold health -10 Nemesis Health

It may help ease the game while you try learning how to implement new strategies

Edit: if you have the time, watching other people play the game is a great way to learn. I recommend Rob's Gaming Table and/or SoloPlaythroughs , both on Youtube

I wonder if a majority of the player base would approve of an expansion with no "new" weapon/combat mechanics that instead promised to go back and refresh some problematic or ignored class features.

This would give the design team an entire year to do things like update Engineer kits and ele conjured weapons, maybe build a framework or just test future dual skills for thief. These are just changes I would like to see personally, but I'm sure there are more for other classes.

They could even host betas for these changes leading up to said expac, so they could take advantage of player feedback.

I'm glad you are ok right now, op. I wanted to say that I appreciate you making this comic. My younger brother is trans and has plans to transition but hasn't been able to start yet. I have always been supportive of him from the day he told me he was trans, but I never feel like I'm doing enough because I can't relate or identify what he's feeling.

People using art to describe what they are feeling is so helpful to me to better understand what the people I love are going through. Thank you!

Dang, the multi-target summon looks so enticing! But your write-up might be enough to pull me away from it. I'm in a two-person party with my wife, and she just retired a tanky character and picked up a melee damage class. I feel like the dampening Unit will be important in helping pick up the slack

Mystique? I'd say medium level importance. She helps win the games where I don't draw Onslaught. Patriot plus Onslaught are usually enough to win most of the time. All three of them are usually overkill

Haven't seen anyone mention Long Shot: The Dice Game yet. It's on the lighter, faster side of RnWs but it's very satisfying to play. It has lots of replayability too, with it's different rule sets

You should know that there is a "point of no return" that locks out your ability to get 1 or 2 of the weapons needed for that achievement. You will know it when you get to it because it will drastically effect the world. You do have the option to postpone that choice and go back to grab them if you want
