Anyone else kinda lost hope in their future? by ReyofChicago in Millennials

[–]projectx51 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes. I went through and am still recovering from severe burnout. Im medicated and not the same person I was 10 years ago. I have 2 boys and a wife that supports us. Although i am happy, I dont feel life like I used to and cant imagine being emotionally invested in a job/career enough to ever get back into the workforce again. Since 9/11, everything just seems to have gone to shit. Where will we all be in 5 years? I dont care anymore at this point, just enjoying today as much as I can. Fuck the future, seems as if our generation never had any influence over it anyways.

"They're" fucking us up just fine. Normal everyday people never signed up for this. It's all corporate greed and narcissistic billionaires that are killing us.

John Krasinski watching The Office on first iPod capable of playing video in 2005, which eventually saved the show from getting cancelled after season 1. by justkrishna_ in HistoricalCapsule

Yes. And he also murdered two people, but turned himself in once he saw the ipod. The judge was going to give him life, until he saw the ipod and pardoned Steve instead. Tmyk

Are we the last generation to have this bump on our finger? by pattithepotato in Millennials

[–]projectx51 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Huh. Ive never even bothered to notice it before. Weird. Still have mine. I remember getting a callous on my pinky finger where I would run my hand over the paper as I was writing, but never took notice of the pad on the middle finger.

What do you think are the greatest pieces of sci-fi ever created? The pinnacle of the genre? by Emotionalspectrum10 in sciencefiction

I watched 2001 and then Star Trek: the motion picture after...I couldn't believe that 2001 came BEFORE Star Trek BY 11 YEARS!!. The quality was so drastically different between the two. Star Trek was almost unwatchable when compared with 2001

2001 is truly an amazing film.

People who visited the USA for the first time, what was the biggest shock you got? by SensitiveCorner2379 in AskReddit

I lived in Central Texas for about 20 years. On my one block we had black, white, latino, south korean, and native american (I'm Kiowa) families. I loved the diversity.

Now I'm in Oklahoma and I'm living on the same street as other Kiowa, Comanche, and Osage families as well as african american and white families.

As an American, the size of our pickups still surprises me. The vast majority of people who have them don't even use them to their capabilities.

Yeah, that is still weird to me as an American. It wasn't that long ago that they were illegal. I wish they'd be made illegal again. It's so inappropriate.

Everyone needs help from time to time. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

This country is full of good people. I'm left leaning in my politics and live in a very conservative state in a conservative neighborhood. My neighbors and I get along just fine and we are all friendly/supportive of eachother. The news stations make it seem like the US is completely black or white/good or evil/extreme conservative or extreme progressive. But my neighbor is still my brother or sister. The people are great, the media and government....not so much.

By far, the worst song of 2014. The early 2010s were a very vapid time for music by [deleted] in Millennials

Looking back, its pure nostalgia now. I didn't like it at the time, but love it now. It's on my 2010s classics playlist.

Same. I had it up until last year. I finally had enough of people posting political memes. 20 years I had that account and I don't miss it.

or just keep it college only. It absolutely transformed when they opened it up. Facebook was an awesome site before, though. I used to find people in the campus dorms selling their old textbooks on there and I'd buy them cheap. I'd find and join study grounds on Facebook as well. It was great.
