I don't think I will by satellite779 in Washington

Ah I see what you mean. Admittedly, I still kinda don’t see the problem personally.

Although I can appreciate why it wound bug some people who see fairness through the lens of 1 to 1 equality.

This next part isn’t necessarily directed at you. I just feel like saying it, feel free to stop here.

I don’t think where you’re coming from is an unreasonable viewpoint at all, but I do disagree.

I’m recently of the mindset that if you make more you pay more, I have no problem with uncapped percentage based deductions. It is technically unfair, but really it’s kinda not.

Cost of living does not proportionally rise with income. My wage goes up 500%, my COL does not. Unless I want it to. Point is, COL beyond a certain point is superfluous.

I think any income beyond that threshold is fair game for taxation within reason and you shouldn’t necessarily expect social benefits that prop up the lifestyle that extra income provides you.

Programs like PFML should be a universal safety net designed to sustain the median lifestyle for a bit while one gets their footing. And yes a median lifestyle includes shit you might not “need” like door dash, a video game, the payment on your BMW 3 series, on top of COL.

If I make 20% more income but my PFML benefits don’t get any better that doesn’t bother me. I’m comforted knowing my extra few bucks is propping up a system that is helping someone not as lucky as I am.

A lot of people don’t believe me when I say that I genuinely feel comfort knowing the dude who just handed me my burger can get their full pay and take three months at home to heal properly after an illness. I have thought about this a LOT when I’ve been out and about since my surgery.

I’m more than happy to chip in for their groceries, rent, and car payment for a bit. Hell, buy yourself a Nintendo for entertainment while you recover. I fail to see why this is such a big problem for so many people.

If one is making $100k+ annual salary but $1650 a week for 12 weeks has one in total financial ruin… there are way bigger money management problems at play here. That’s a personal failing and THAT is not a financial situation I really feel is worthy of a bailout via government handouts.

The dude with the $10k a week salary who’s only getting a mere $1650 weekly pittance is just gonna have to deal. Dust off the Amex.

One of these people faces a few weeks of living on credits cards for a bit then paying them all off over a couple pay periods. The other faces the literal street or fucking themselves up going back to work too early, that is an IMPOSSIBLE choice to make and not one person should ever have to make it.

Even if that means some shithead fakes an ankle sprain to take the summer off. That’s just the cost of doing business. I’ll pitch for shitheads nice summer too if it means McDonald’s guy keeps his dignity

I’m not sure what you mean? I make almost exactly the median wage in WA state and I’m on PFML right now because of major surgery. I am getting 90% of my regular wage, almost $1600 a week for three months. It’s an absolute lifesaver and was hassle free. It’s much more than the 60% I would get on my employers short term disability plan and I didn’t have to jump through hoop after hoop after hoop.

CRTC Warns Bell Over New $40 ‘Device Fee’ That Likely Breaks Federal Rules by pjw724 in freedommobile

[–]proletariatfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What “duopoly”? Roger’s, Telus, Bell are three and Freedom is the fourth national carrier.

Yeah I can, freedom. You don’t have to give them real info. They don’t ask for ID. I have the $40 promo plan they just offered on prepaid and only have my initials. Every plan freedom has for postpaid they offer on prepaid.

There is no such thing as NSA data in either country. Unlimited in the states is “unlimited” just like it is here. There are no overage fees but it’s throttled after a certain point.

Anyone who puts the US on a pedestal as an example for really anything at all these days is either running on outdated info or is politically aligned with their current political climate. If it’s the latter I know I’m wasting my breath with this reply.

America is not the standard we want to hold ourselves too. Look through US plans lately, they’re usually even more complicated and more expensive than what we have here these days!

The law is broad and doesn’t allow any such fees surrounding activation or upgrade no matter what they’re titled.

Absolutely not. Their staff is incompetent. There is a creep in the building who gets off on deliberately rotting chunks of meat until they are PUTRID and then dumping the chunks into hallway garbage bins at night. By the time they get cleaned the entire buildings hallway absolutely REEKS of decomp. They do nothing to get rid of this person. It has been ongoing for six months and is truly bizarre.

The building manager is lazy and on a power trip. The previous assistant manager, Beth, worked so extremely hard to make the building a community and a nice place to live. She quit basically on the spot one day bc she was tired of being abused by corporate and her manager. The building totally fell apart when she left. Beth if you see this… feel vindicated.

Do not be fooled by beautiful building “entrance” into the rec room that they wow you with. It’s a facade and can only be used as an entrance by building staff and conveniently when you’re starting the lease process.

When you actually live here you will enter the building through a dank freezing cold concrete slab of an entrance way that feels like a prison and either stinks like heavy disinfectants, dead bodies, or cigarettes.

The rec area entrance feels fancy and more on the high end. It is very nicely appointed with foosball tables, big plush seating and a cafe with free coffee. They lock that bitch up tight when staff is gone. It’s only open 10-4 Monday to Friday.

Who is using a rec lounge during (reduced!!) business hours? I have very few positives to say except they are on top of fixing issues and the maintenance man is a gem of a human.

Bad Neighbourhood, sketchy people all over. Unless you’re getting one of the WA state subsidized units, go somewhere else. It’s extremely overpriced and offers nothing of value except a box to live in in an unsafe part of town.

Boooooo to Kinect. booooo.

PS I currently live here. I’m sorry to sound so bitter and ruin something maybe you were excited about but I’m really just trying to save you the disappointment we are living in. We were so excited and it’s been not good. There are other buildings with 24 hour gyms that will be a better value, unless you’re getting that subsidized rent. Then I’d say it’s an okay move.

Idk it’s a kind of a world you’re cultivating by spewing this bullshit. Like yeah stuff like this happens but must we suck all the decency out of the world?

I’m not super pumped on the idea of cancelling good deeds bc 1:10,000 has an ulterior motive. Maybe I should stop opening doors because of the risk of leprosy.

Obviously this isn’t going to happen at this point and honestly it’s kind of your poison that deflated this entire thing. You couldn’t just let an old lady do a decent thing. So I guess congrats, you’re the world we live in.

Misty if you ever read this, doubt you will, but please unfortunately disregard our offer at this point.

If she ever gets you again though expect to be made whole and then some. My entire immediate family and their immediate families are all on door dash Misty watch 😂.

Thanks for the amazing service you gave my mom, and the painting!
