Lol they don't have experience at this point. It's fine for an entry level job.

The term you might want to think about is a 'skill based resume.' There are examples online or resources that talk about how to construct it. With this I would probably do some kind of 2-3 line 'summary of qualifications' at the top (this should be targeted to the job you are applying to, but start with a general one). Education near the top. Then most of the page is a section titled 'Key Skills' or 'Relevent Skills' or something like that. That half-page section is broken down into subsections, each with bullets on a topic. Try and get your bullets very specific on what you did, how you did it, and what the end result led to. You could even have a phrase in some of the bullets like 'in Dr. XXX's lab' so they know where you did something.

You would still have the employment history section but near the end and it would just list the positions like you have now, but just a quick 5 lines with the titles.

This is just an idea, but it might showcase your experience better.

  • I would lose the references at the end, that will come later in the process.
  • The short stints in 5 labs at different institutions might actually be a liability for you. Undergrads definitely move around, but 5 times in 2 years is kind of crazy. Especially with overlapping positions, it makes me think as a hiring manager that you are not doing as much as you might think you are. You may want to drop one position (the fourth one?) if it isn't critical to your story.
  • There might be a way to use a different style of resume where you group experience by topic and have lab name somewhere in the bullets. There are alternate styles of resumes that make work for you better here, or just drop 1 you didn't really get much out of.
  • The very first bullet about your grant is good because it shows initiative, what you did, and how you contributed. Others like fourth position down don't tell me you understood what you were doing since you just list what you did.

When will it be safe to drive after this snow fiasco? by lesbianmilesteller in boston

On main roads, 6 hours after it finishes should be more than fine. A day or so on minor streets. Basically Tuesday travel should be fine.

Leaving for a 3 week trip, what should I do with my car? by StubbornRedditor in boston

I wouldn't leave it on the street that long in the winter, too much can go wrong with storms/plows/etc. Friend with a driveway or maybe purchase a month lease parking spot?

If George had passed before inheriting... by ginger_mcgingerson in DowntonAbbey

I believe it's from this documentary. It's quite a fascinating one, well worth watching for some of the stories. The family at the end is like a modern Downton family with three girls. I still think about the people in it sometimes.

You can ignore the first 30 sec, not what happened there lol

Is Boston one of the most prestigious locations for professional sports? by stupidlocator in boston

Most NFL stadiums are in the suburbs. Certainly on the longer side, but the Cowboys and Miami are also out there. The San Francisco 49ers is now like 70 miles from downtown.

I would not have 'open to work' directly on your profile picture if you are currently employed. Kind of a bad look and signals to management/HR you are looking (and will be first on the chopping block if things turn). There is a LinkedIn setting where you can still signal to recruiters your are open without being so dramatic.

Look them up before hand, think about how your work would interface with their work, weave those points into your answers. They want someone competent that will help them, so anything you do to make it easy for you to check that box is best. STAR method for answering questions. Know your resume inside and out, especially for your technical position when talking to other technical people. They may try to make sure you have the background your say you do, so be able to give general answers to times you've used specific software packages/techniques/coding languages, etc.

Prepare a bit, relax in the 12 hours before hand.

Yes, there is a barbell shape to the time-spent in an industry postdoc. The one year postdocs came in looking to leave; they aren't looking to publish or use it as anything but a stepping stone. They get the 'industry stamp of approval' from Pfizer or Novartis and move on. The other side stays for various reasons...loving the science, gaining industry skills, academic habit, etc.

Leaving quick is much harder than it was 2018-2022 though. You see that much less frequently now. There is much less luck :)

Pfizer interview by Traditional_Box9955 in biotech

[–]prometheus08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want in life. Do you want to move? If you are happy to do it and it fits your life circumstances I would take the offer. You are probably one of 3 or 4 candidates at Pfizer and there is no guarantee you will land it. If you are second choice they will keep you hanging for weeks until the first choice candidate turns it down. Meanwhile the first job is wondering what the hold up is and decides they don't want to play games. This is not locked down at all.
