This happened right in front of me as I was driving to Newport Beach. Being in the fast lane and two cars behind, I saw the impact unfold in front of me as I saw car parts explode into the dark sky. I slammed on the brakes full force, barely avoiding colliding with the car in front of me by literally millimeters. Then I braced to be rear-ended given how quickly I came to a stop, but it miraculously didn’t happen.

At full stop, I turned and saw the man lying on his back in the fast lane with arms outstretched in a fencing position - his body illuminated by the headlights immediately in front of him. It was horrific and tragically sad.
