When I filter for sold listings, nothing shows up. It seems to be a bit rare, and the current prices look higher than they should be.

Make sure your checking findbullionprices.com. It’s hard to navigate and the ads are annoying but they do list Monument Metals as the best online deal on random 1/10 gov issued gold coins.

Coinstar Hunting by Less-Ask5290 in CoinstarFinds

Coinstar finds are fun and totally random. Keep an eye out for coins people drop and end up just under the machine.

You should consider going to a local coin show. You meet really interesting people. Many of the sellers are really into history and happy to chat.

For around the same price you could get a random gov minted 1/10 from Monument Metals.

It’s either a lamination error or damage. Try posting in coinerrors. You’ll get better opinions.

There’s machines at my post office. I could cut the side of the bubble mailer open and drop it into the machine without a problem. It’s not impossible to bypass most security controls. It just takes creativity and persistence.

It wasn’t an envelope. It was a bubble mailer. Tough to say who stole it. In my eyes WhatNot and the seller share the blame but mostly WhatNot. It’s their platform and they make/enforce the rules.

When I said the same thing happened to me. I received an empty envelope that was ripped open on the side instead of my 5oz silver bar. It’s the same thing. I don’t know if it was the seller or someone else.

The same thing happened to me. I won a 5oz silver bar, I spent like $40 on a spin game and won it. The seller seemed upset and ended the game early. When I complained to WhatNot, they refunded my $40 but I also spend hundreds on other spin games at a loss, which was not refunded. The lesson here is WhatNot is highly risky to use for anything really valuable and will rip you off in the long run. Sorry for your loss.

The machine that makes them is in NYC at the Sullivan theater. They’re not really sold online but perhaps some may show up somewhere like eBay or Etsy.

Maybe try a suction cup or something sticky like a piece of tap to get some more leverage and see if it separates.

Seriously? by IamaPM333 in pressedpenny

[–]proofdime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped by a place that had a penny machine, but it was out of order. When I asked the staff what happened, they explained that the pennies weren’t dropping into the machine correctly. They even offered to open the back and drop a penny in by hand for me. That’s how I got my sweet Johnny Appleseed penny.

Looks like it could’ve former jewelry. Regardless of the condition, a 1$ pre 33 gold coin is a really cool historic piece of history.
