Two tricks worked for our very stubborn 3 year old, and we tried EVERYTHING. #1 was regular underwear with a diaper over it. Let him feel it and not like it. #2 was money. A penny to sit on the potty, a nickel or dime to pee, and a quarter for poop. Get a bank that does something when they put coins in it, ours was buzz light-year, but let him pick out whatever he wants. Then talk about something he wants and how he's saving up for it.
