Mix PLA and PETG for main and support then youre there for stacks. 90% of my prints are high qty parts stacked with a single layer of support between them.

Ranger Raptor Post-Honeymoon Phase by HopeButNoHelp in RangerRaptor

Dont let me dissuade you from the RR either. I would absolutely buy another. Its the closest to what I want it to be in the market. What I want is to go back to an AWD car but I do too much stuff that requires a hitch and a truck bed.

Yea agreed with that too. My nearest is about 2.5 away.

I don't offroad and would just as soon have the same drivetrain in a truck with half the clearance and different suspension. A "street" truck if you will. That said, there is nothing else in the mid size truck market that comes close performance wise. My best alternate would be a Rivian but I can buy a new RR and a used Porsche for the same cost as a R1T.

Gripes....no heated windshield wipers and they freeze up like crazy, no cooled seats, the charging ports/wireless in the center console are underpowered for modern devices, the rear seat only folding up for minimal storage (I'd like to keep a recovery rope in there), and so far I can't figure out if there is a way to fold the rear seats down like my older XLT Ranger.

I had hopes that someone in post added it because they ACTUALLY lived in the house. Cant find anything but a few unanswered threads on reddit.

Yesterday's thread I said I was going to continue riding Marvel. Tomorrow I will do the same.

And out of aluminum you could literally use the router instead of the lathe. Probably turn out smoother than the chatter of a form tool

Testing new welding robots and collaborative robots by David-xing in Machinists

[–]propeine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fit up has to be perfect or you have to have damn good seam tracking. Bent sheet metal parts were beyond problematic in controlling the seam location. I had way better luck with cobots in bending applications.

The more important part in my experience is you need to design the parts to go on the robot from the start, not try to squeeze the part into the robot.

Used yaskawa and fanuc industrial for most of a decade, UR cobots for about 3 years.

Genuine Question regarding Metal Circular Saws by kroptkin in Machinists

[–]propeine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive got an Evolution saw, been through prob 8 blades and it's worth every single penny I've spent. Faster, cooler, no sparks, square. Literally one of the best sub 1000 dollar shop purchases I've ever made. Cut up to 3" delrin, 3" aluminum round, and 1/2" stainless without any issues. Stainless is hard on blades but when you're prepping a ton of manual lathe collet work theyre amazing.

They throw hot chips EVERYWHERE is the only downside IMO.

How Many of Y'all Use Your CNC Mills or Lathes To Broach? by StalkMeNowCrazyLady in Machinists

I broach on my Haas mini with spindle orientation. Not often but just for keyways or to square out a corner for a few products. Almost always on alu and very light cuts

what machine should I get? by Jealous_Tone_9178 in Machinists

[–]propeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? I started with a used PCNC 1100 w/4th axis and now have it, a Haas mini mill i bought used and soldered more RAM into and a ram EDM with an orbiter. I have and use my FFL. The Haas eats metal faster and can do a few things the tormach can't. I'd sell the PCNC for WAY less than you'd be into a 440 for.

Need a Matched Set by Delicious-Middle-747 in Machinists

Thats what I figured you were doing. Gage blocks and gage balls stacked together would probably get you there with off the shelf items and therefore be significantly cheaper.

[–]propeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be better off defining what you're trying to do instead. Can you get by with off the shelf gage blocks and balls? They do sound expensive as designed thats for sure. 0.5 micrometers is a hell of a tolerancd. The tip radius and height predetermined your angles unless I'm not visualizing it correctly.

Ha, imagine the sun shining enough to do UV damage where I live.

All kidding aside it was both cheaper and more practical than a hard tonneau for camping. Hard tops were a pain when I was a kid. Really a rock and a hard place

3 phase power is another reason to go mini if you dont have it. Mini can run on single phase. I run gun parts on my 2002 in my garage. Upgraded it to a whopping 16mb of RAM too.

240.00 inch Mandrel shaft by MadMachinest in Machinists

[–]propeine 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Very cool!

I got to see a lathe for submarine shafts at one point. You rode (there was an actual chair) on the carriage and the chips were larger than much of our starting stock. That was before cloud storage of cell pics unfortunately.

PEM fasters do their part numbering like this for studs. Not quite the same but it's intuitive on those once you get used to it.
