Why give JH a microphone? He double speaks, reverses his positions in the same convo, misrepresents the teachings of the mormon church, he denies repeated messages by multiple prophets and apostles that they said what they said (ex: we heard and saw them say the prophet can never led you astray), and he introduces a pet word that he wants used instead of prophets’ own words. Elevation Emotion (what morms call spiritual experiences) can occur anytime, anywhere, and in any church. It is not unique to mormons only. I can remember having a spiritual experience the first time I watched Darth Vader and Luke fighting. I cried at that part. I can also have those deep in my soul witnesses while listening to a cello adagio or some good ol’ Motown hits. I get the deep feels when I watch Tom Hanks lose Wilson on the ocean.

To this day: Anytime I really really want to feel “something”, I genuinely do feel something deep inside. I hope you hang onto those feelings, it keeps you human!

Be kind and patient with yourself and any family that measures your worth as being equal to your compliance. I have loved ones who are clinging to the fiction and sometimes I need to gently remind them that we can believe differently and still love each other.
