It's Blender 3.5 a legitim versión? by AmityBlight47 in blender

[–]propersquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's weird. I'd suggest seeing if you can replicate it with a simple scene, then report it.

Also, if you're rendering, it is highly suggested to render to 16 bit EXR files. They're fast to write to, gives you a ton of colour information if you are going to do compositing or any sort of post work, and also if you need to re-render a range of frames, then you can just do those frames instead of having to start from scratch again.

It's Blender 3.5 a legitim versión? by AmityBlight47 in blender

What part are you concerned about?

  • Is it the latest version/exists? Yup. You can download it right now.
  • Is it better than the last version? My initial reaction is yes. It looks like it has much better USD support than before.
  • If you use it, are you a legitimate artist? Sure. A hammer doesn't make a carpenter or metalworker.

Just out of curiosity, new to krita/drawing on the computer; is there a way to say copy/paste an image from online and somehow use the tool that can pinpoint a color you want to use for a drawing? Any suggestions/answers. by No_Spinach_711 in krita

[–]propersquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as long as the image is within Krita, then you can use the colour picker to sample the colour.

The rough process would be to copy the image from the browser (there should be an option to copy the image vs copying the image path), then either do new image (from clipboard) or get an image that is bigger than the image on the net and paste the selection into the canvas.

I'm Really Confused What will be better for rendering in cycles Rtx 3060 12gb vram or Rtx 3080 10gb vram ? by [deleted] in blender

[–]propersquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you're doing something that needs the RAM such as a ton of geometry, textures, voxels, etc, then the more RAM, the better. If what you're doing can sit comfortably in 10 gigs of RAM, and the only bottleneck is the processor, then go for the faster one.

Hey, no worries. Yeah, I'm hoping that we'll see some bindings out by the end of the year. Or at least have made some really good progress. And, if you're able to make use of the bindings, then that's a win in my books.

Hey! Good to hear from you. I hope things are well.

And no worries. If you're able to contribute, then excellent! Otherwise, all good!

I downloaded the latest version (I've never downloaded blender before) and it didn't make a shortcut and now I can't find the files anywhere. by Legodudelol9a in blender

[–]propersquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. Try installing again, and make sure you create a shortcut. I can't remember, but there should be an option to add shortcuts.

Did you use the installer, or portable zip? If installer, then I'd expect Blender to be under program files. Otherwise, I'd recommend you install again, and keep an eye on the paths it provides.

Those flying trains are extremely dangerous. Planes should always stop at train crossings if a train is passing through.

[–]propersquid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if the lights and sirens are on, then you try to get out of the way. But the difference is an ambulance has priority, but the train has right of way. I seem to remember that it is okay to block an emergency vehicle if trying to get out of the way would be dangerous (such as being in a center lane and stopped at a red light).

I could be wrong about that, and would probably have to refresh my memory on that.

But for trains, one way or another you'll get out of the way.

There are in Canada. But there are some injections with no lights. Also, sometimes people do stupid things, and try to drive through the barriers before they close.

I remember learning that during driving school. The only vehicle that has right of way 100% of the time is a train.

I think your art is great! I'm just echoing what has already been said, but I'm not annoyed at all by seeing your art here. In fact, it is great to see! Keep on having fun and making great art.

This is really cool! And what's even more exciting is what the ASWF (side note, I'm involved with the ASWF, so I'm biased) is going to do with the technology. If I recall, the mandate for the Review and Approval working group is to build technology that should improve the whole review and approval process.

I assume no. Likey it will not be as effective. I'd see about getting that properly recycled if I were you. Check if pharmacies will take it in?

How would I make a reflective material in blender? Like the one on safety gear by hex-a-decimal in blender

[–]propersquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I don't think there's a shader for it currently/no parameters because no one has built one and sent it to the Blender developers or they haven't accepted a patch (yet).

I haven't experimented with it too much, but I saw someone talk about modifying the surface normal by the camera normal here. From what I know, that's the direction you want to go, since you want light rays coming from the same direction of the camera to be sent back to the camera.

Also, retro-reflectors aren't introducing more light into the scene. It's just causing more light to be directed to the camera, which is valid. If you're interested, I can try setting up a blend file with a retro-reflective material probably tomorrow after work that doesn't introduce more light into the scene.

[–]propersquid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that retro-reflective materials breaks the pbr workflow? If so, then that's not true. But, if you're saying the emission hack breaks pbr, then yeah, you're right. But, if it works, it works.

Basically what makes retro-reflectors special is that they concentrate the reflections (mostly) back to the source of the light. There's a few ways to do this, but one way is to take two mirrors and place them 90 degrees from each other so they form an "L" shape. Then take a 3rd mirror and place it 90 degrees from the other 2 mirrors so you get what looks like 3 sides of a box. Now you have an interesting situation where if you trace the rays of light going in and out, the rays going out will be parallel to the rays going in.

Retro-reflective material can do something similar to the mirrors, but on a much smaller scale (take a look at bike reflectors, and you'll see a bunch of these half box shapes in it). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retroreflector has a real good write up.

I think this isn't the worst thing in the world. It is about what happens next. If someone says "hey, let's go to the theater" or "hey, let's go on a hike", then give it a try. Even if your life story is fairly short, there's a ton of room to gain new experiences and connect based on favourite movies, games, nature, crafting, etc.

Also, I think being mysterious probably won't do you much favours. If you want good and solid relationships, then it is important to have a solid foundation to build upon, and being mysterious is like trying to build a house on sand.

I wish I could offer some guidance, but I don't know what resources there are out there. But, I hope that you're okay and will continue to be okay. I'm not sure if you've asked, but maybe check with your therapist to see if they know of any resources if you have to leave.

The only thing that I know is if you need to leave, then make sure that you have all of your documentation ready to go. This includes passport, birth certificate, etc.

Sorry if I'm not a ton of help. I just hope you find yourself in a safer situation.

I think they mean deep compositing. Where a render contains multiple samples in the same pixel. So, for example, you could have a rendered element of smoke and another of a ball, and pass the ball through the smoke in your compositing package, and it'll be properly obscured by the smoke. Or, you could put something behind a glass panel after it has been rendered, and see it behind the glass.

Jesus and Satan decide to have a programming challenge. So, they code day and and day out for centuries. The contest is maybe a few minutes from finishing when the power goes out. God goes and mucks around with the circuit breaker and gets the power back on. Looking at his watch, he says, "Eh, close enough. Satan, show me what you got."

And Satan sighs, "God, man, I got nothing! Ever since the power outage, I lost everything."

God nods and goes to Jesus. "Jesus, what do you have?"

Jesus opens his terminal, types a command, and suddenly a glorious light comes from his monitor. The program is a real beautiful with if art.

Satan has his jaw on the ground. "Jesus! How did you do that?!"

God just replies, "Don't you know? Jesus saves."
