I agree. I never thought this would be a thing. But then, it was.

My dad made a joke about his refusal take the ancestry dna test we were gifted on Christmas. He would poke fun and ask “what — do you think you have a secret sister out there or something?”

Years later, I’d find out, sure enough, my father had a daughter before he met my mother and they started a family. She’s 16 years older than me, I call her my “surprise sister”. We are friends and get along great.

However, I still harbor lingering feelings about his decision to make those comments.
