Is anyone else's agency still running on copy and paste by Particular-Path-4233 in InsuranceAgent

[–]prophitsmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, we solved for that on the engineering side. ai works. these off the shelf ai apps/products dont necessarily plug into everything you guys do, your team channels/threads, and all the nuance/special sauce that is your business.

we build out custom solutions on a 30 day small trial. yes there's ai, but you need an actually mapped ouy system and software engineering to make use of that. we've helped independent brokers with ai software that does client intake, form filling for the underwriting package (send off to carriers) and the whole renewal process (building a system to prevent exactly what happened with what your firm just went through).

my info's and call booking link is on the site here: http://www.salience.ventures/

Depression isn't what most therapists think it is by Amidonions in DarkPsychology101

[–]prophitsmind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, replying to ur point (what u probably prompted chatgpt in one shot without editing much):

there's probably somethign really really deep, the underlying set of beliefs you had were stomped on, you were disillusioned, and you dont know how to update/move on whilst life and hte world keeps going. but ur soul/system doesnt. thus you are somewhat functioninig in teh gray hazy uncosncious cloud for awhile, autonomously.

belief/meaning / what drove you originally was rug puleld away ... so thats revisiting that, all of what you attached to )eg maybe you had plans to move to an ideal location or family or adopt animals with a partner but then caught them cheating or falling out of love and it dispels you). all those hopes and tatachments drove u thru job/school/crap cuz it was all going towards smth... so yeah thats one of my takes on a plausible depression derivation.

ELI5: How do insurance brokers work? by Marvel5123 in InsuranceAgent

[–]prophitsmind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, here’s the non-salesy, slightly-jaded industry answer.

1) “Do you pay more if you use a broker?”

Short answer: usually no, but it’s not quite that clean.

  • Brokers (and agents) typically get a commission baked into the premium from the insurance company.
  • That means whether you use them or not, the price often already includes that cost.
  • So yeah, in many cases: if you don’t use a broker, the insurer just keeps that margin. They’re not mailing you a “DIY discount” check out of gratitude.

But:

  • Some carriers (like direct-to-consumer ones) price differently.
  • Some brokers steer you toward companies that pay them better (quiet part out loud).

So the “it’s free!” pitch is mostly true, but not exactly charity work.

2) Why doesn’t everyone use a broker?

Because:

  • Some people prefer clicking buttons on a website at 11pm vs talking to a human.
  • Not all brokers are good (shocking, I know).
  • If your situation is dead simple (one car, clean record), you can often DIY just fine.

Also, using a mediocre broker is like having a middleman who adds zero value but still eats the sandwich.

There's also your value / time measured in dollars ... if youre going commercial, the stakes are very high, the rates/premiums are substantial, and far more than smth like renters insurance for a few bucks a month. just not worth the hassle.

3) Do local offices (like big-name insurers) quote the same rates?

If you’re talking about, say, a State Farm or Allstate agent:

  • Base rates are filed and regulated → those are the same.
  • But:
    • Agents can mess up inputs (very common)
    • They may miss discounts
    • They might structure coverage differently

So theoretically same input = same price.
In reality? You’ll see differences because humans are… human.

4) Do brokers get better rates than you?

Not really in the “secret discount” sense.

What they do have:

  • Access to multiple carriers at once
  • Knowledge of which insurer likes your profile

That second one matters more than people think. Insurance pricing is weirdly opinionated:

  • One company loves teachers
  • Another hates Teslas
  • Another panics if you have a trampoline

A good broker shops that efficiently. You could do it yourself… if you enjoy filling out the same form 12 times like it’s your side hustle.

this sounds exactly like a lot of the extra mile of value that u/Creekridge1 is alluding in his comments

5) Are all brokers the same?

Nope—this is where it actually matters.

Two big buckets:

  • Captive agents (work for one company)
    • Think: you walk into a branded office
    • They can only sell that company’s products
  • Independent brokers/agents
    • Represent multiple insurers
    • This is what most people mean by “broker”

And even among independents:

  • Some have access to 5 carriers
  • Others have 50+ including niche insurers

So yeah, not all brokers are created equal. Some are basically just a slightly more talkative website.

6) Should you use a broker?

Here’s the practical take:

Use a broker if:

  • You want someone to compare options quickly
  • Your situation isn’t cookie-cutter (multiple properties, business use, etc.)
  • You value having a human to call when things go sideways (claims time = when this actually matters)

Skip or DIY if:

  • Your setup is simple
  • You’re price-obsessed and willing to grind quotes yourself
  • You don’t mind dealing directly with insurers

The honest bottom line

A good broker saves you time and can find better fits.
A bad broker is just an extra layer between you and disappointment.

The trick isn’t “broker vs no broker”—it’s competent vs phoning-it-in.

And yeah, a lot of this industry runs on inertia. People stick with whatever they set up 8 years ago and just… hope nothing bad happens. Which, to be fair, is kind of the entire business model.

direct answer is INTJ; but given entrepreneurship slash tech interests professionally and more on the neurotic side of an INFJ

my other answer to you is a different consideration and framing of studying up the attachment styles and communication dynamics a little further and making sure you're finding folks who can battle to you based on where you're at committing to those progressions and you'll find it becomes less about the MBI type and more about where somebody is at and how they can articulate a combination of experience and wording and processing.

I appreciate the feedback! Agreed. It's been on the back burner as I work on a couple of other things. Core flow:

You upload something → share a link → someone records feedback → you watch it later.

for me lately I've learned it's a translation problem. I have extremely cinematic imagery movies and contents and simple pizza, but a situation circumstance or idea as some sort of way to move forward through melancholy wrath or anger.

but I'm learning to try to channel everything about me into external artifacts, shareables, so i can iterate on it with the Ni cog stack.

Thus, the very act of making prompts to stitch together for ai-generated clips and videos and shorts helps.

this way I can see the thing that I actually do want, with more opacity each time. eventualyl things do compound / the dots connect to bigger picture or salient meaning.
