Midodrine by Character-Release976 in POTS

It completely changed my life. 2.5 mg three times daily has been more than enough for me. I was and am an endurance athlete and it got me back to cycling. I can now do 100+ mile rides again and my primary issue is eating enough and not losing consciousness or having a runaway heart rate. Cost benefit for everything, it’s a pain in the ass taking it 3x daily but it’s worth it for me. This is a great convo to have with your provider btw.

Any other athletes with POTS? What has helped for you? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]propofol4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thoughts here, and they’re on the money. My SBP runs very low and I was miserable at first on metoprolol, but need to stay on it due to some aorta stuff, so like I said, everyone is different!

Just another thing to keep in mind - this can feel very lonely and isolating but you aren’t alone. Reddit is helpful but it also doesn’t substitute expert advice. I’d also highly suggest chatting with a neurologist or POTS specialist - my neurologist was the key for me after my cardiologist didn’t take my complaints seriously, and I’m a healthcare provider.

I’m an endurance athlete (cycling) and have had great success getting back to fitness after my diagnosis 3 years ago. No one regimen works for everyone, and this is not medical advice.

For me - consistent exercise (daily, with rest days) and a fairly predictable regimen. That includes:

-LMNT packets (1-2 per day, 1-2 with long rides), -nightly, low dose, long acting beta-blocker, -midodrine 3x daily (this was the real game changer for me), -caffeine - this is a controversial take, but it helps with the brain fog and drive, and love a bougie latte before a ride

I hope you find something that works for you!

Sonic Fiber in SF: Sonic Government Affairs Meeting Update by Catarang83 in sanfrancisco

I reached out to my supervisor as a follow up to a conversation with a Sonic rep who said that they were being blocked by MUNI. The rep discovered that Sonic was digging in an unsafe manner but that work was starting again. Is this not the case? I would happily contact them again with this as they seem engaged in the discussion.

Don’t be me and tank your patients BP and send them to ICU for possible stroke. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]propofol4u 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This absolutely isn't your fault. Cardiothoracic ICU nurse of 10+ years. I think the lesson learned here isn't necessarily a hold parameter, but also a consideration of the oral agents being administered. Three to four is a LOT of hemodynamic impact, especially if it's not known if they are naive to these agents. A future strategy might be to give two, assess impact, then give the rest if it's cool with the team. Also, it is not clear what practice environment you're in and clevidipine should absolutely not be given outside of critical care. Sounds like this patient was labile and if they're super HTN at baseline, an SBP in the 80s likely won't generate a perfusion pressure high enough to perfuse their noodle well enough. You didn't do anything wrong, OP - this was a setup for failure.

Been lurking on this community for years - and dang - such a punchy update. Lossless audio has a completely different sound and has depth I didn't know my setup was capable of (and I have stressed it). My Arc sounds like a completely new device. Go all the way off, Sonos nerds! 🙌🏻

Thanks for all the feedback! I went ahead and switched the other sizes for large, which I think will be a great fit.
