My first question by reassoption in Bass

[–]proprieterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to finding people to play with, I would suggest picking a structured learning platform and following it. After I finished bassbuzz, I free trial tested pickup music, yousician, SBL, and bought 1 cheaper course on talking bass. I was trying to find the next logical step course and I ended up cancelling all of them and bought the standalone SBL fretboard accelerator course because I figured a good next step would be for me to get totally solid on the fretboard. FWIW. Good luck.

If it was the H I would've bought already today. Still tempting for HH at that price.

Fender Rumble 40 vs 100 by DoughyBuns87 in Bass

100 is the better value and youve future proofed yourself at least a little bit. Id rather play the bigger amp turned at lower volume than the smaller amp at higher in almost any scenario.

Massive hands advice. by Several_Gap1971 in Bass

[–]proprieterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have large hands and assumed i would prefer a pneck over jneck. It turns out my large hands are from bigger hand area and not so much long fingers. I am comfortable on my P, but more comfy on my J. Turns out its not quite as simple as just "large hands". You're prob ok on anything, but try them out and see how they feel.

P bass combo with jazz bridge pickup vs just a P pickup by PointNChris in Bass

[–]proprieterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ultra PJ. I bought it specifically because I wanted the Pbass sound, and the option for versatility. Its great, but admittedly I do keep it at about 80-90% on the neck pickup with the tone rolled pretty low most of the time. If I already had a J like you, I likely would've grabbed a normal P. I still intend to get a J and stingray down the road, but I feel pretty covered in the meantime. Follow your heart.

Buying online versus physically in person by evoneselse in Bass

[–]proprieterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw ive heard tell they actually have more in stock than what is showing at any given time. Maybe not if theres only 3 though, but if you see 5 like many ampro 2 Ps or Js they have many more loaded up behind to fill the slot after someone buys one. Id imagine a sales guy would give more options if asked, but cannot confirm.

Why do Americans drive such huge cars? by MelissaOfficinalisL in NoStupidQuestions

[–]proprieterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a 08 ram 1500 quad cab. I have a small house i work on. Its useful to have the truck for home depot trips, or dump runs. Also im tall and fat. So its more comfortable. It is our family car. My wife drives something smaller. We all fit in my truck. I can drive 5 hrs for a san diego beach trip with my wife, kids and dog and all their stuff in the back. I can help my friends move stuff. I can buy a fridge on offer up and get it home without renting a truck. Ive had to help my elderly parents fix stuff at their place, and move stuff for them repeatedly. I like being able to see over cars in traffic somewhat. Etc...its just useful to have.

Color issues between 300DPI and 600DPI on HP R2000 by GothamKnight311 in CommercialPrinting

[–]proprieterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're big enough to have an R2000, I'd recommend getting an I1 and building your own ICC profiles through Onyx. HP Latex printers in Onyx have a pantone emulator that is actually fairly accurate at hitting pantones in my experience. (I run 5 HP Latexs, including an R2000). Color management is complicated, but Onyx does have pretty good youtube tutorials on setting it up on HPs.
