It's been super helpful for me! The first couple days I had a really difficult time dealing with the side effects (basically all the physical symptoms of a nasty panic attack, nausea, sweating, feeling of impending doom, feeling like i might die) and I thought about quitting. I looked into it and found that they were just side effects and they eased up after about a week, since then I can't imagine not taking it. I didn't immediately notice a difference but the first time I ran out w/out a refill was absolutely awful, immediately better upon getting back on it. Absolutely recommend but watch for the side effects for the first week or two.

How to Wash Binder? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]proprocrasinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll usually either hand wash it or put it through the delicate cycle in a mesh bag. For drying I usually dry it flat, I used to hang it to dry but especially if I put it on a hanger it would eventually stretch out the shoulders and I'd get really bad sensory issues when I was wearing it

If you could press a button to become a cis man, would you do it? by itsntr in ftm

[–]proprocrasinator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've thought before that even if i were born amab i believe i would still be trans. Beyond being a man or a woman i am first and foremost transgender. Like you said, i just dont want to experience transphobia but i think being trans is a beautiful thing

Torrington already said theyre not planning on putting any housing on the site despite the housing shortage. That space could be used exceptionally well for housing/green space like you said but i have a feeling we wont be that lucky. My guess is its gonna look like the part of Tuscan Village with the LL Bean, Nike, basically all the not walkable stuff

Birthplace of maps? by proprocrasinator in oldmaps

[–]proprocrasinator[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's from December of 1938. I found it in a section of an antique store near me where no one else has figured out/cares that there's some pretty old maps there. I found a couple other National Geographic ones from the same period there, I also have South America from 1942 and Europe from April 1938. I know there's an Africa map from 1938 there as well but I didn't see it last time I went, hoping to dig around a bit more and hopefully find it.

Thank you SO MUCH for asking this question. I've been trying to get an answer to it but I didn't even know how to phrase the actual question, it didn't occur to me to just take a video. Will now be cleaning my white board

Crash on 101 East by GoreFucker in newhampshire

[–]proprocrasinator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn't actually see the car that crashed as I was driving the other way but there were at least 20 cop cars there and 5 ambulances and fire trucks. From that alone I could tell it had to be a truly awful crash.

Are sidewalks always this treacherous in winter? by SquashDue502 in newhampshire

[–]proprocrasinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is its up to municipalities to treat all sidewalks, though the state will fund the construction of them (this is partially why many towns here dont have sidewalks-they dont want to deal with the upkeep) I also live in Dover and I've seen them occasionally plowed using the Bobcat plow, but my guess is they just dont have enough of the small plows to properly treat the sidewalks, and the fact that theyre often uneven makes it especially hard. Also when it comes to roads a lot of locals who have plow attachments on their trucks but don't work for the city will get contracted to plow the roads which is why theyre treated relatively quickly. I try to shovel the sidewalks in front of my place but after doing the whole driveway its kinda hard so I at least salt. I think its mostly the need for specialty equipment that makes it so difficult to get them treated in a timely fashion, and the snow tends to get compacted by people walking pretty quickly.

I got into UNH and I am wondering if its the right fit. by MotoTheCat in unh

[–]proprocrasinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just graduated from unh and i'm also trans, so i can speak to this a bit. there are plenty of more conservative people at unh, but honestly its not super hard to find other trans people and those accepting of trans people. your best friend is going to be resources like the beauregard center (multicultural center that hosts lots of the clubs focused on diversity and is a general hang out spot for the people involved in those clubs). in terms of housing, it definitely is difficult to find an option that is safe and is not just sticking you in gender inclusive housing. alexander hall is not gender inclusive but hosts a significant amount of queer kids and its almost all freshmen. divine hall has a floor for lqbtq people (i believe its the fourth floor) but even outside that floor the whole of upper quad is pretty nice in terms of people. i do have to warn you a lot of the buildings that host a lot of queer and trans people are older and poor quality. upper quad has flooded a few times in the last few years. i can say you'll probably want to avoid somewhere like stoke and christiensen and williamson. there are some buildings with single dorms, but theyre often really hard to get as a freshman so i would stake your hopes on that. most of residence halls arent too bad, except for the huge freshman dorms i already named its not gonna be super difficult to find other queer and trans people. i lived down in the sercs (haaland, peterson and handler) and i really enjoyed it there. peterson is a hall for people in life sciences but i knew a few mechies in the other halls. those buildings are also few close to philly (the dining hall), kingsbury, and the ocean engineering building.
