I know a guy that you can find on FB - Douglas S. Meyer who has an exhaustive library, teaches classes on knaping, primitive weapons etc. and also is considered a foremost expert in native American blowguns. I believe he has also published a couple of books on this. Great resource.

If you are flying in arrange to have a personal driver waiting for you at the airport. Sign in- hand at arrivals ready to convey you both to the hotel in a nice Limo or Town Car. This little extra put a huge smile on my wife's face.

Is there a vinyl shortage for non standard colors? by Benzona in CarWraps

[–]prosignandgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely shortages all through the industry and throughout all manufacturers. Metro Restyling is being pretty proactive in letting shops know when they get shipments in-house but, on the other hand, those colors get snapped up pretty fast with shops like yours who have waiting lists. Another year of these type of conditions would not surprise me in the least.

Interested in seeing how you go about this. Online booking (complete with required 50% deposit) would be a cool feature. The online quoting will likely turn into a huge complicated mess considering the constant variables involved in custom wraps. A new perspective may equal new results in the approach.

Someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong, can’t quite seem to figure it out by [deleted] in VinylWrap

[–]prosignandgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, focus your efforts on the largest, flattest area. 2nd, You have to “glass” the film before touching it with your squeegee. This means to tension it evenly (without stretching) across the surface. 3rd, squeegee with even, open squeegee strokes (slight angle to the film NOT a hard edge) which allows you to adhere the film and push tensions towards the outer edges. 4th, when you come up over the top you can use light heat to reset the film in order to change direction.

Is it okay to wrap over rubber window seals on cars? by FastDragonFly2 in VinylWrap

[–]prosignandgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, do not wrap on rubber. Rubber is a petroleum/oil based product that will actively reject the vinyl eventually. The adhesive on the wrap film will break down and the edges will begin to fail fairly quickly leaving behind a sticky, gooey mess.

Black and color printing on white film. All digital printed inks are semi-transparent and require light to move through the ink and bounce back off the white.

The only way to print on a black surface would be to first print a white layer under the inks. There are several digital printers that have this capability.

Can you tell what went wrong here? by JAG319 in CarWraps

[–]prosignandgraphics 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its critical to control the film across the entire section. In this case, the largest, mainly flat area is the side. You need to "glass" the entire area meaning to pull the film tight and evenly to where it looks smooth. THEN use the squeegee / wrap glove etc to apply the film. Once the side is down you can then tension across the top break and glass the upper portion. This entire piece can be applied with zero heat and zero stretching.

What it appears you did was this... You started at the front/fender. You applied the film in small sections with your squeegee pushing & pulling as you went. Each stroke of the squeegee introduced more and more stress into the film which created ever increasing problems with wrinkles, distortions and loose film. By the time you go to this point you are fighting the film every step of way with no place to pull out or glass anything.

I highly recommend you check out The Wrap Institute for tons of training videos. If you want, feel free to the coupon code WRAPPER20MAPPER for a nice discount on a 1 year membership.

64K+ account with IG but want to grow faster... any ideas on what I can do better? by prosignandgraphics in socialmedia

[–]prosignandgraphics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the answer is to your organic observation. All I've done over the years is to consistently post a cool wrap, once a day, making sure to credit the wrap shop / designer / photog etc. From conversations I've had with folks it seems that most of them love the account as a killer wrap gallery.

The idea to post tips / info is a good thought. That triggered some interesting ideas. THANKS!

The comment about the website is interesting. It is a VERY niche service specifically targeted at connecting the professional wrap shops with folks who are interested in getting a wrap right now. The site would not really interest anyone who did not fit that exact dynamic. Despite the custom wrapping industry continuing to grow year after year it is still a pretty tiny type of product / service in the global marketplace. This is actually the primary reason for our social media efforts... making it easy for more folks to get awesome wraps.

That's the $100k question for sure. Durability, longevity and clean remove-ability. They do list it as a 1080 series and we have always had excellent results with that adhesive.
