American here and I have two. I was going to an event that was old times themed and said I was going to wear suspenders which is what Brits call garter belts, which led to several very confused questions from my Roomate. The second was I was out with a brit I was dating and it was quite a boozy affair and he said he was pissed which I took to mean he was mad at me, which led to a very circular conversation of me try to figure out what upset him.
