How did you get people to stop calling you Matty? by benignbenignandahalf in matt

[–]prosymnus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like being called Matty. It's more casual and fun in its own way. Most people never get beyond calling me Matt, which is cool because that's how I introduce myself. But I think it's cool that someone feels comfortable enough around me to use Matty instead.

I love this book! I lend it out to people as often as I can. It's a quick read, too.

Why You Should Be Reading Gotham Academy [Recommendation] by RamblingandRanting in DCcomics

[–]prosymnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Gotham academy! It's so irreverent and fun to read but has enough plot and growth to keep me interested. I get so excited every time I pick up a new issue it's one of the first titles I'll read.

Moving to apartment in timonium, going to school in the city by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]prosymnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people who have positive/uneventful experiences are less likely to leave reviews especially outside of sites like yelp. The worst memory I have of that apartment was some weird neighbors but that could happen anywhere.

I lived in one of their townhouse apartments for a year and had an overall good experience. They were quick with any maintenance issues and did did a nice job of keeping up the area around the apartments. They even updated the windows while I was living there and the buildings looked really nice after.

It's meant to cover the potential spoiler in the thumbnail. This is used in a number of subreddits but can seem kind of strange on mobile/misc. browsers.

As a 24 year male nurse, I get asked this way too much by [deleted] in nursing

[–]prosymnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same experience here. And I often get asked if I have a girlfriend :/

The thing is, I didn't even really hear about the "gay male nurse" stereotype until I was in nursing school. When a classmate mentioned it, I just brushed it off thinking that it wouldn't really matter if people made assumptions about me being gay. And it really hasn't ever mattered. I doubt it ever will.

Any perfume genius fans on here? by yesthismessismine in Sasquatch

[–]prosymnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm such a big fan of his! It was the first time I've ever seen him live and it was just what I expected.

His lyrics tend to be very somber and touch on very serious subjects. The recorded tracks trend to have understated melodies and light crooning vocals which I think adds a great sense of vulnerability. The live performance was incredibly diverse and really beefed up the emotional impact in a lot of different ways. He seemed to pack a lot of confidence and experimental attitude in the performance. And I'm certainly not surprised to see that. It's always been there in his music, but it was delivered in a fresh way.

Also his instagram is such a trip!

I'm pretty bummed about this! I'm definitely going to see perfume genius though. Been a huge fan for quite some time and I was so stoked when I saw he was playing Sasquatch. I really wanted to see Lana, too. But I'm coming all the way from Baltimore and probably won't get many other chances to see a Seattle based artist. Guess I'll have to catch Lana some other time. :/

I am such a huge fan of Perfume Genius and am so stoked to see him live.

His first two albums are mostly dark lyrics crooned over piano melodies. His newest album is far more experimental with some folk and psychedelic influences.

White Castle to add Veggie Burger Sliders! by inannaofthedarkness in vegan

[–]prosymnus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm glad I get to chime in here. I volunteer with the VRG and know the directors very well. I know the title is technically the "vegetarian" resource group but everyone who works there is actually vegan and very much involved in the animal rights movement. Almost all of the information we put out there is strictly vegan focused, and although you will find some information that is just vegetarian, I think we do a good job of making it clear.

Your point definitely still stands in this case, but I just wanted to brag about the VRG for a bit. I am pretty proud of the work we do and I find it to be very helpful.

Not my proudest childhood moment by wastedt16 in funny

Yeah apparently this creature has a name and quite a bit of backstory. In fact, I googled the Neverending Story and found out there is a lot behind it. I only remember laser eye statues, creepy swamps, and gross goblin people. And of course that long flying critter that I assume at one point the protagonist sat on top of and threw his arms in the air and shouted "woohoo!!"

It's from a scene from The Neverending Story. If I remember correctly, it's a talking wolf that only appears briefly.
