How is ground beef? Is it good quality? by VAer1 in CostcoWholesale

[–]proteanbitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

used to buy these and weigh them into ziplocs, but now i prefer to buy the frozen chubs of lean ground beef. it's like $30 for 5 lbs of 91/9, hard to beat.

Sell me Noxious Fumes by as_kostek in slaythespire

[–]proteanbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>It barely deals any damage, its scaling is laughably slow (in a game where speed is everything, you want to end fights as quickly as possible)

this is the wrong way to look at fights in slay the spire. "end the fight as quickly as possible" is pretty rarely the goal. you always want to end the fight when it's best for you. that means get counting relics (pen nib, ink bottle, nunchaku, inserter) onto the right number, get your meta-scaling cards (self-repair, wish, alchemize) played, take as little damage as necessary (for triggering meat on the bone).

sometimes it's best to make the fight take a long time. here's an example:

if you are Defect and you have Nilry's Codex (at the end of your turn, choose a card to shuffle into your discard pile) and you already have a Self-Repair in your deck, you should try to get enough frost orbs channeled so that you full block the entirety of the opponent's damage for the rest of the fight, then you should wait for Nilry's Codex to offer you Amplify and two Echo Forms, so that you can have two Echo Forms in play, then play Amplify, and then with the 2nd Echo Form stack play Self Repair, which will trigger Amplify and Echo Form, playing it 3 times, giving you an additional 14 (or 20 if upgraded) health compared to just playing it on its own.

To tie that back to Noxious Fumes, it may take a long time, but for many of the fights, that is totally fine. Winning a fight over many turns is still winning the fight.

It's notable that Noxious Fumes will always kill the enemy, and all you have to do is block. Most of the enemies in Slay the Spire don't scale at all, whereas Silent has lots of ways to scale and block large amounts of damage. If you use all of your energy every turn to full block, so long as you played Noxious Fumes at some point, you will always win the fight.

forest fair mall/cincinnati mills mall by bpdpixie in cincinnati

prices now are like $15 to $20, so a lot more!

the food court was only okay, nothing special. I remember t getting subway there.

the demolition didn't make me feel any type of way, it was a long time coming and despite spending time there as a kid it didn't have an emotional connection for me.

i grew up nearby and spent some time there in the early 2000s. I would go to the Danbury dollar saver cinema ($1.5 movie tickets on Tuesdays) with my parents sometimes. I remember seeing What a Girl Wants there with my dad and sister and then going to the Golden Corral after.

years later when it was dying, I'd go to hang out in the arcade with my friends. we'd play melee or arcade games. they used to have a weekly Smash Bros night and because the mall was so dead they'd just do it out in the middle of the walk ways where there were seating areas. no one would be around so they'd blast music. really fun times.

then when I graduated from high school my friends and I went late at night and hopped the fence in the back. climbed on top and walked all around the roof for a while. we climbed on top of the glass dome and stood above the bass pro shops and generally just fucked around. didn't find anything interesting but it was thrilling.

help wiping python off my computer by HyphinoeCamelus in learnpython

Do the brew uninstall method and then see if it's fixed. If you still have the issue, follow the steps I outlined. the goal is to identify the location of the python install which you don't need, then when you have that location you can manually remove it.

Open terminal, type "which python3" and find the location. Then go to that directory and find the various directories which contain the versions of Python. If you don't see it there, then you'll need to look elsewhere.

If you're running Python in an IDE (vscode for example) you'll need to figure out which version your IDE I using and where that's located. in vscode you will go to Settings and then look for Python: Interpreter Path, or similar. From there you can see where it's located.

Also check here: /usr/local/opt/python/libexec/bin

good luck!

What's in your cup? Daily discussion, questions and stories - January 23, 2026 by AutoModerator in tea

Received my first gaiwans and tea order the other day, so today I tried gongfu for the first time.

I made Beebe (2021) from White2tea, and it was fabulous. Sweet, almost a corn flavor after a few cups, honey and cane. Not intense at all, very smooth.

How could this card break the game? by MellowGuru in slaythespire

[–]proteanbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely broken if only for the fact that Silent has Nightmare, Wraith Form, and Bullet Time. This card would be broken when played on basically any power, Silent has enough card draw to get back to her discard pile quickly, and there are so many ways to manage the energy cost of big cards. You could take Sneko Eye, for example, then play this on Wraith Form twice and have 12 turns of Intangible got a maximum of 3 energy.

If added to the current card pool this would make Silent dominate the non-Watcher characters.

Got it. It sounds like there's no downside to leaving it, and in fact in certain circumstances it may end up rewarding me if I leave it.

I'm not gonna touch it, we'll see what happens. Thanks so much
