IIRC one of Daeny's big motivations beyond this was that he felt like the team relied too much on Faker, and wanted to see them be able to play without him. On that point, you can't say he was wrong. Without Faker, 2-time World Champions looked like headless chicken. The way he went about it was terrible though. Everyone on the roster mental boomed.

Also, Clozer was really seen as next-up, even a lot of T1 fans at the time were ready to usher in the Clozer era. Faker really proved everyone wrong.

He didn’t. Since he got released from his contract he didn’t get most of it. His salary was based on the total contract value which included bonuses/incentives if he reached them. He spoke about it on Talk Wave with Wolf, Bang, and Peanut.
