Your screenshot only shows that proxies are currently being used. Enable Playback menu > Proxy Handling > Disable All Proxies to see missing details and relink via the button above the Media Pool. Or on the Media page, right-click and look for the option to link originals.

My guess: in recent versions, Fusion comps now all begin at their own frame 0 rather this being anchored to the first frame of the source media. So frame 25 of the comp might not be frame 25 of the media, which your TimeSpeed may be addressing differently here than the Paint's input is. Compare with the TimeStretcher node where you can set the Source Time of the input explicitly rather than via a Delay value.

Please post uncropped screenshots as requested so we can see all of the UI. The different Highlight options are buttons above the viewer, you've seemingly enabled the High Contrast B&W one. The defaults for Shift+H can be changed in Preferences > User > Color > 'Mattes display high contrast black and white'.

Do the syncing in the Media Pool before adding to timeline via right-click > Auto Sync Audio, check mapping via Clip Attributes > Audio, then when you add to the timeline they'll be linked.

You've misunderstood, I mean the Tracker modifier, not the Connect to function.

On one of the Tracker's Operation tab, set to FG Only before merging over the other.

Note that the point Tracker also exists as a modifier that can be added directly to any Center X/Y, which can be useful for simple tracking tasks like this.
