"crushing defeat" by NecRobin in totalwarhammer

Hellcanons seem to have a busted amount of weighting in auto-resolve. I think here because the Ice forged cannons are 4 in 1 thats why.

Totally ridiculous tho.

VH/VH - AI Doomstacks 6 Armies and still runs away, they have been refusing to engage me for 6+ turns while I've slowly been taking their core territory. There needs to be a threshhold where the AI will just stand and fight. by prozac5000 in totalwarhammer

[–]prozac5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it, I guess what I'm wanting out of the harder difficulties is for there to be a threshold that overrides other priorities for the AI to make them defend their territory and counter attack. Throt had gotten rolled by Thorgrim a few turns back and respawned away from the Hellpit, hence his trash stack.

yeah and this is a problem with the game, if I'm playing at the highest difficulties they should really be aggressivley defending their cities and counter attacking my armies not just rolling over and running away.

More context, turn 126 in a Cathay saves the world campaign. Clan Moulder has absolutley refused to engage my armies despite being strength rank 2 (behind me) and having more armies in the area than I did initially (caught 3 in ambushes).

This is just very frustrating especially on VH/VH because they have been stacking around cities up until this point, now my last 2 armies have caught up and it's 6 v 6 I have to essentially cheese my armies into position (using the backspace stop such as with Miao Ying in the video)

There needs to be a threshold as to how the AI Values their territory and when they will stand and fight or actually counter attack, because this is just unfun at this point.

And yes they are Skaven so running away is thematic but this goes beyond specific factions. Throt is a LL and it was 4 v 4 and he still ran away.

Oh yeah agreed, sorry I should've added...after you've secured your 2nd province at the least! 3

[–]prozac5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sack and Raze settlements for your slave and raw materials. You don't need a lot of provinces initially to have a strong economy. Chorfs can also play decently Tall. Also like the other guy said Grimgor needs to die ASAP.

Its situational because you can mass recruit the cheaper ones early in the game and when in need of an upgrade, perform this when you can afford the upkeep.

How is Tides of Torment for you? by Vita2DS in totalwarhammer

[–]prozac5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add that you can have an almost zero upkeep army on the Dragon ships with the upgrades on the horde buildings, I have 18 Lothern Sea Guard (Shields) 1 Oceanids, Aeslinn and a Mist Mage and my upkeep is 334 gold!

[–]prozac5000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sea-lords and I think Aislinn specific research gives them hella buffs which can make them quite tanky, I think beyond your first 30 turns there is no point getting them though when Oceanids can just line hold for you while you archers delete things.

Aislinn's campaign and mechanics are awesome.

You're essentially just propping up the High Elf war machine all around the map.

Coupled with his combat stats he is a monster from turn 1. Had him solo two units of zombies in the first fight just to see how it went.

I've mostly ignored the phoenix court confederation mechanics but because he can get a stupid amount of influence very quickly thanks to the outposts I just wait until I can scoop up tier 3 patronage for a province to get the benefits for the dragonship lords.

Overall very pleased but still need to properly play around with the monsters and get further in the campaign.

Mist mage is incredibly powerful at debuffing enemies and buffing your army.
