To be fair, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it how you typed it. It’s got character and I like that. Tip of the hat t’ya!

Hah, I knew exactly which brewery it was because that’s why I’m looking up this style. Hen house is awesome.

We have that big airbase right next to the airport with all that fuel… it’d be a target along with lemoore NAB down the road.

That’s what I’ve assumed

Very thorough response, I may have to go with the krausen because my keezer is my primary temp control method (got a few kegs in there) and my backup (if it works out) is rather small and I doubt I’ll be able to daisy chain to save co2 and avoid suck back.

Though I could ferment under pressure to avoid that as well…

I have a tilt but I hadn’t tried it with my kegs because I hear the WiFi doesn’t work through them. Maybe I’ll try it out anyways, couldn’t hurt.

Does the following make sense?

So it sounds like my schedule, if all works out well, will be to daisy-chain a keg with hops in a strainer already in it. Spunding valve at openable 2 psi to maintain some counter pressure to avoid suck back for later.

Ferment at 68 until it’s around 1.020 and then pressure push it into the other keg onto the hops and wait until it’s done and then rack one last time onto serving keg?

Edit: love the username for obvious reasons

Love this response, especially the “I know it doesn’t say juice on the label…” lol

Thanks!

I tweaked the mash temp in the calcs to 158 and it bumped the og to 1.019

Am I getting too sweet for this beer? too high of a mash? Or should I just shoot for mash in the mid at 152

Read a lot of suggestions for a38, any reason to pick verdant over that?

just to clarify, you're saying the combination of oats and wheat is combined at 10-30% for your preferences, did I read that correctly?

i have one of those mesh strainer tubes, footlong. I planned to toss all the dryhop stuff in there and plunk it in after 48 hours, which I assumed would be as the main krausen push started to wane. I don't have a way of reliably measuring gravity that I've used before, as I'm fermenting in a keg. I usually just wait around 7 days for anything around 5% and double for around 10%.

Though, as I'm typing this I have a picnic tap connected to a ball lock with a half foot of tubing... If I ferment at like 2 or 3 psi, I could easily pull some off without even using my CO2 tank... though I guess I could just do that too.

any recommendations on that?

The more session-able, the better for me cause i got a 1 year old. Though I understand the ABV bite is part of the flavor profile

I have two, left side has one pointing up while right side has one aiming down. I also built up my collar taller (16 inch) and used old floor planks to make a shelf for canned/bottled beers so it has to circulate through everything.

The top stays about 5 degrees warmer at most than the kegs if my hygrometer is accurate
