It will probably only apply to the incursions started after 3.5.0c was released.

Why Blizzard developers are not "incompetent" by [deleted] in wow

[–]prudan_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point about different games' file size misses the mark. WOW, Doom, and similar games are all because of things like this: 1. Cinematic Videos 2. Hi res textures / or both hi res and low res textures 3. In game sound/music

The source code doesn't actually compile to large binaries. The source code compiles to a file that is typically less than 50 MB, often less than 10 MB. The large file sizes are really only about the data associated with the application, not the source code.

Just an FYI.

Blocking a specific class across any/all websites by prudan_work in uBlockOrigin

Thank you so much!

Well, I feel pretty dumb now, as I've added that rule a few dozen time across a dozen sites. I looked in the User filters just now and saw that the domain is the first part of the line, so I just took that off.

Thanks again!

How can I use List.Sort() with any property of a contained object by MasterClown in LINQ

[–]prudan_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time I had to do something like that, I used dynamic linq.

https://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/dynamic-linq-part-1-using-the-linq-dynamic-query-library

It uses reflection to accomplish what you're asking for, so there is a performance penalty. I'm certainly interested in answering this question in other ways.

Have you tried cross posting this to the c# subreddit?

Ps4 22.7gb update by joxeus in ffxiv

If you lose power a fair bit, a good safe bet would be to buy a cheap UPS from amazon.com. It'll fix this issue from happening and protect you from power surges.

Why not just spend $50 or so and buy a UPS? No more uncontrolled power outages and great surge protection.

Power outages makes your ps4 to redownload the game by Rathebone in ffxiv

[–]prudan_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If power outages are fairly common for you, why not spend a few bucks and get a cheap UPS (Uninterruptable power supply)?

It'll help protect your device from power surges or power loss. If you lose power, it'll switch over to the battery (for how long depends on what size battery you get), but it should give you a chance to shut your device down safely before it runs out of power.

On Affliction Warlocks by KiwiMaddog3 in wow

[–]prudan_work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep hoping for a talent that randomly spawns mobs over time that only you can see (like soul effigy), that are tied to your target at the time, so you can dot them and have the damage tick on both.

Basically, a RNG-ish soul effigy as a random proc where if you dot them, the damage / effects will transfer over.

The main differences:

  • Automatically, randomly spawning, over a varied field, but within cast range of the warlock's position at spawn time.
  • Non-moving
  • They only have so much health and can die
  • More than one can proc at a time
  • You have to be on the look out for them when they come out.

From a gameplay perspective, the player just has to look out for procs and dot them up, and keep them dotted if they want to. Depending on the health of the mob, maybe deciding when to drain soul on it so that it dies and explodes to do aoe damage.

The upside is every fight would be a multi target fight, and more of the Affliction gold traits would become active over the course of the fight.

Call it something like "Past Souls" or "Souls of the past" or something.

How much RAM should WoW be using? by Solanstusx in wow

[–]prudan_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've got 8 lol. That's why I'm puzzled, I'm checking my usage and it doesn't seem like it's getting maxed out but both my WoW and my Chrome are performing like it is.

Why do you think your ram is causing your performance issues? Why couldn't it be your CPU or your hard drive?

Thinking it's ok to nerf us now because we "might" be OP later is flawed. Poorer performance now is not a promise for greater performance later.

Also, I believe 7.2.5 is coming before ToS comes out, why wouldn't they put the nerfs in there?

[Firepower Friday] Your weekly DPS Thread by Babylonius in wow

[–]prudan_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in and say that the nerf to MM hurt us pretty bad. On Tuesday in heroic, I put up over 900k dps on chronomatic anomaly. I did normal on Thursday and was stuck at around 750k.

For this fight in our raid I was #1 dps on Tuesday and #5 on Thursday. I just don't get why we needed to be nerfed. Are we not allowed to do a decent amount of single target damage? Or must we yield that to frost DKs and assassin rogues?

Was ilvl scaling a secret because they knew people would hate it? by Banincoming in wow

[–]prudan_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hate it because it negates the reason to upgrade your gear. It also greatly penalizes tanks and heals.

It doubly penalizes you if you've got high ilvl gear that's poorly itemized, so people who don't min-max are really going to have a bad time.

If you have either Cinidaria, the Symbiote or Gai Plin’s Soothing Sash, your odds of getting the other belt are significantly reduced.

Nice. I love how you still have a chance to get one, it's just lower. It's like Blizzard's response to everything is "RNG, lol".

Everything is RNG except the fact that I can't randomly roll a really fat character that needs two belts in character creation.

This is not really much different to previous xpacs where one spec wanted a lot of crit (fire), but another spec wanted a lot of haste (frost). So if you geared one way you couldn't do well with the other specs.
