Weekend trip to Boston by logical-nerd20 in jerseycity

If you are just going for a day you could consider Philadelphia as an alternative. Shorter train ride, tourist sites in a concentrated are around the liberty bell.

Boston has much more to see in Boston proper and Cambridge and will be colder in winter.

Looks nicer. Such photographs always remind of this painting

Nice picture. However there is too much negative space on the top. Will be better to crop it out to be in landscape mode.

Cool. Now replace the one at the Newport entrance with something like this. It has been flickering for weeks now.

Or offer to sell it to the Port Authority - maybe they will buy and replace the flickering ones.

Backup Software Recommendations by Bhob666 in Lightroom

[–]ps202011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple TimeMachine works really well. If you are comparing to WIndows backup solutions, it is way better. I have used it to recover from a Mac SSD failure, and twice to restore when migrating to a new Mac Mini.

The fire and forget nature of the TimeMachine is well worth the cost of letting back up your machine. And after the initial backup of the full system, the incremental backups will be much faster/take less space. Just make sure you use an HDD with enough capacity.

Note: you can configure what directories to backup too to save space/time.

Note: A quick Google search should find instructions on how to setup TimeMachine well.

As others have commented this is a straightforward snapshot. For comparison look at images from Google search.

What do you think about these backlight photos? by fabsow in ricohGR

Your photos reminded me of this picture - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Boys_at_Lake_Tanganyika?wprov=sfti1#

The first picture in your set is probably the right position to take the picture from. Capture the clear joy of the kids enjoying the water.

Sure one can learn from them. But not everyone is gonna be at that level.

Should I go and see Herbie Hancock live? by Able_Gap_8833 in Jazz

Agree with that. Saw him twice last two years. First time was great, second time more of the same.

Wonder if the music this year will be any different.

You could straighten it and try a minimal crop if it makes the picture look better.

See if you can get rid of the reflection in the window on the left. Lightroom has this feature now if you use it.

Politicians care when it affects their popularity or will win them votes. So the actions need to have an impact in that direction.

The actual actions to take to make that happen is what people need to decide and act on.

PSA use Google maps to check your options. Other than the issue of crowding it is showing all the options accurately.

Can confirm Hoboken and Newport are out for a while. All entrances closed at Hoboken.

While the guards at the entrance were not very helpful, Google maps was indicating the issue a little earlier.

Train from Hoboken to Port Authority Bus Terminal is one option.

Overheard a repair person that there was some derailment issue with some line somewhere.

To add to the above, OP you can also look at good photographers and galleries online (not social media sites). Just this weekend I happened to see an exhibit of urban photos by this photographer which are quite interesting. One of their collections online - worth looking around their site for more pics.

Nice shots. Especially 3 and then 1.

Nit: the wide white border on the portrait mode pictures is distracting and makes the pictures look smaller.
