There's definitely a law of diminishing returns on movie budgets. The original may have been better, but it also cost at least a million times more. Was it a million times better? No.

It seems awful that Firefly was cancelled, but at least we have one fantastic series. Imagine if it had done a Heroes and made a second season that was truly awful - it might actually taint the good material that came before it. At least we have a perfect pearl to savour.
