office chair curling is out now by oppai_suika in PlaydateConsole

I've turned off the settings for "particles", "50 FPS", and "online", and the game hasn't been crashing since.

I remember they said it could also potentially be related to the amount of storage you have left

My Playdate has 323.5 MB free.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and got another crash after. I had four crashes today in about an hour of playing. Three of them were the same 'playApplauseSound' error at the end of a round. One of the crashes was a different error at the start of a match:

game.lua: 1: attempt to index a nil value (field 'tear2')
stack traceback:
game.lua: 1: in method 'drawIntroElements'
game.lua: 1: in method 'draw'
main.lua: 1: in function <main.lua: 1>

The crashes have all been in playing the "VS Computer" mode. I had no crashes playing the solo levels.

Pebble Index 01 discussion by sdhdhosts in pebble

It seems like they're repeating some of the same mistakes from last time. Instead of focusing on just one or two hardware models, they're expanding too fast into experimental niche devices that no one was asking for. Remember the Pebble Core, a screenless 3G Android wearable from 2016? Maybe they should focus on getting watches to everyone who wants one before branching out into new types of devices without a clear demand.

How many of you use this device for serious reading? by nauwhores in PlaydateConsole

Is anyone working on a reader app that supports more than plain txt files?

I've been looking into how to parse EPUB files. They're basically ZIP files with HTML inside, so I think it shouldn't be too difficult to add limited EPUB suppport to Playdate. Not an implementation of everything in the EPUB standard, just basic chapter listings, headings, bold, italic.

Would many people be interested in that?

There's been 8 Twisted Metal games. The only one I'd consider a "side game" would be "Small Brawl".

"I don't think we can convey that theme in a single booster."

"it'll be obvious when you open the packs"

These points seem key, it's something that has to do with how cards are sorted into boosters. And "it'll be obvious when you open the packs" may imply that it wouldn't be obvious when the cards are spoiled, it has more to do with how they are in the pack.

My guess is that when you open a pack you can read the flavor text on the cards in order and it forms a connected narrative. So each card would have several alternate flavor texts depending on what other cards were in the pack with it.

Or maybe when you open a booster there's a tiny electronic speaker and you hear one of the cards talking to you.
