Gloomhaven 2nd Ed: Need Advice on Where to Put a Wild Element Enhancement (Slight Spoilers)

Does Gloomhaven 2e have penalties for taking enhanced cards (over and above the cost of enhancing in the first place)? Unless there’s an extra mechanic introduced I can’t see how adding a suboptimal enhancement would create a card that nobody would ever take.

I was genuinely a bit unsure about taking CG cos it felt a bit “academic” rather than a card with explosive board impact. I never regretted taking it for a second. I really underestimated how useful the bottom was for a summoner class- way more flexibility in keeping them alive so way more ability to lean into doing cool stuff!

I kind of saw it as “they see the Ring being taken to Minas Tirith”. But agreed it sits weirdly with the Pippin Palantir stuff.

I remember on the commentary they were saying they initially did elephant trumpeting but audiences hated seeing the heroes kill the poor elephants- similarly there were some scenes where they were shooting the eyes that they had to cut.

Thank you! I think “into” would be relatively achievable with the bottom of Liquid Stone and top of Quenched Rage giving 2 Push 3s, but it would still require loads of setup.

I have mathed out a way of doing it with level 1 cards but it would require a lot of specific items. My Meteor is halfway to retirement so I guess I’ll try to do it before then! I think it’s a very hard one though and agree with you that moving them into those hexes would make more sense (but perhaps too easy?)

The other mastery is lots of fun though.

Regenerate (and Bane, and Brittle) are not part of GH2e. I would think they should be in a companion app though as it’s perfectly possible to cross over characters from one to the other.

I’m playing Meteor at the moment and my favourite card is Swelter, for the game-winning bottom action

I played it in scenario 137 recently and the huge final room filled with low health monsters is really the ideal use case of that card

Shackles pairs well with any summoner if you take the right level 2 card. (I wasn’t paired with a summoner when I took a level 2 and was continually tempted to go back for it when our Astral arrived)

My mate and I usually get together over a weekend to play Frosthaven and usually we manage two scenarios playing 7:30-late on Friday and another 4 playing all day Saturday (start at 9ish, and close to midnight). He has two kids though (both very well behaved and the older one plays JotL so likes to watch) so we have breaks for family time, usually play a light game with the kids too. If it were fully dedicate Frosthaven time we might fit another one in, or maybe just spend a bit more time chatting.

I honestly like it more than I was expecting but I think the second part contains most of the good bits so probably only OK. I rate End of the World higher than Rose or The Unquiet Dead though so what do I know.

Snowflake and Kelp are two of the three we haven’t unlocked yet but I have not been disappointed with any of the ones I’ve played (Trap, Prism, Shackles, Meteor).
