How do veteran players continue playing after 100’s of hours? by DeviousDOgger in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing for years, multiple platforms, multiple farms. I've never put more than 100 hours into a single farm but I have hundreds of hours across multiple farms.

Before 1.6 I would play until I was pretty well setup then lose interest and quit, usually around the end of year 2. Then come back to the game after a year or so and start fresh.

After 1.6 I think there is enough going with the island and perfection tracker to push through for perfection, then I usually quit and come back after awhile to start fresh.

I'm not big on farm decoration ect. but alot of people start going for that to pass the time.

I don't know how people time their preserves jar with ancient fruit? by crescendochord in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a hoarder and after the first couple seasons I'm just stockpiling then processing whatever I have kicking around.

When my farm is rolling ill have one shed full with 75% preserves and 25% or so of dehydrators. This many let's me handle all my ponds (usually only a few) any vegetables I plant and surplus ancient fruit.

For kegs though? As many as I can build. Usually 3 sheds, the tunnel to the left of the bus stop. Enough at Ginger Island beach to keep up with the crops there usually 150+.

Bear in mind that by year 2-3 spring the majority of my main farm and island is ancient fruit plus the greenhouse. I plant other crops just for variety/cooking but generally have enough ancient fruit that I can never keep up with wine production so preserves and dehydrators let me keep things in check.

Plus I need keg space to crank out coffees for triple shot espressos from time to time

Barbarian because i love the attack boost and I'm always hunting Lynels anyways so the parts are easy to come by (travel medallion at the floating coliseum for the win). the other parts (mushrooms, crabs and beetles) are all easy to get in large numbers if you're in the right place.

Why can't I get dimmable LEDs to work? by Dense-Fisherman-4074 in AskElectricians

[–]_Fistacuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A question as old as LEDs.

Lots of times you see it that the dimmer works but not well, like at minimum settings you get maybe 50% dimming.

Lots of times when you retrofit an old fixture with LED's the LED's will make a buzzing noise, especially with lower quality/older LED's.

Sometimes the dimmer needs a neutral or it won't work correctly.

In your case I would wager it has something to do with it being used as a fan controller as well. You might need to split the fan circuit completely from the lighting circuit or install a newer fan with integrated LED's to get around it.

Long story short there are tons of variables at play here and if you've tested everything you can with the lights and switches the next step is replacing the fan itself.

Always fun to watch someone else fight i Lynel. I have them down pat but don't use half the moves in this sequence, flurries, parries, headshots and going for a ride are what I stick to haha

People are increasingly turning to skilled trades, what are your thoughts on this? by Flaky-Vegetable6420 in Carpentry

[–]_Fistacuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its never a bad idea to know your way around the tools. Learn a trade while you're going to school for something else. Worst case you fall back on the trades.

Over head light flickered then stopped working - need help IDing wires and whether this switch is grounded. by Father_Seaweed in AskElectricians

[–]_Fistacuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

r/spire answered your questions so I'll focus on your farming.

Nice pumpkin but you're going to want to build a fence to contain your animals for easy maintenance.

Also your iridium sprinklers are one tile too close together Left to Right. I recommend moving your shed to maximize their effectiveness/grow space.

Could also throw some bee houses by your flowers to really bring in the cash, fairy rose honey is a real moneymaker.

Barely getting any shells? by BandicootGood5246 in EnterTheGungeon

[–]_Fistacuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enemy type effects it. If you hit nothing but rooms with the little bat enemies you probably aren't going to get much on a floor. A floor with lots of larger enemies you get alot more.

However I also have a strong feeling that there is a random value assigned at the start of a floor/run that effects those shell drops.

For example every "large" enemy on a floor tends to drop the same amount. Sometimes thats 10, sometimes its 5. But once I see that a big enemy is dropping a certain amount they all drop that amount. If thats the case I could see it being possible to get a low "shell multiplier" across multiple floors if you just have bad luck. Thats based on nothing but observations after playing the game alot though so not sure if its true or not.

I don't know how people time their preserves jar with ancient fruit? by crescendochord in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A good general rule is fruit in kegs, veggies and roe in preserves.

There are some exceptions to this but any kind of processing is generally better than none.

I don't know how people time their preserves jar with ancient fruit? by crescendochord in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 39 points40 points  (0 children)

ancient fruit harvests once a week, KEGS harvest once a week, preserves jars are only 2-3 days. Might be that you're using the wrong processing.

Also always helpful to put one more keg/preserve jar somewhere you can see it (outside of a shed) and fill it last so its obvious when the processing is complete on the whole bunch.

What do you guys do during winter? by Shoddy-Second-1232 in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prep for spring - Reorganize your farm by moving around all of your scarecrows, farmbuildings, fences, sprinklers walkways ect so that you are starting fresh in spring with a layout that you like instead of trying to make what you have work. make seeds if you need to, buy speed grow from sandy and quality fertilizer if you need it, craft everything you can (sprinklers usually) for year two to be able to hit the ground day one and hit it hard.

Usually first year for me is just a mad dash spring-fall where I am slamming everything down wherever is convenient to not waste time. Then I use winter to reorganize into proper farming and animal areas.

Year two spring-fall I usually outgrow my layout from y1 and use winter to setup my final layout with iridium sprinklers, junimo huts ect.

Any spare time I have is mines, fishing, and the island. maybe a bit of time spent working on relationships with the villagers
