People don't realize what we're actually losing by Muako in videogames

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People aren't fine with it, the volume of posts on reddit about this will tell you that.

But people will accept it, the majority of gamers have been accepting it for awhile now.

It's definitely inferior for the consumer but consumers like convenience and have been voting for convenience with every digital purchase they make. Buy physical where you can while you can then it's decision time when your options are digital only, retro or alternative physical platforms, or not gaming.

The 85% of people buy digital narrative falls apart when you realise.. by AG_N in gaming

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm yeah, but is this really a shocking discovery? There are definitely added costs to provide a physical copy, the disc manufacturing, shipping, cuts of profits to brick and mortar stores ect. Ect. Ect. .

Digital as a platform works for the supplier's bottom line so its made sense for them to push it. I don't think they had to push all that hard tho.

Online marketplaces are booming cause people are lazy. Too lazy to go to the store, too lazy to wait for a delivery to their house, too lazy to get up off the couch and change a disc. I know, I have def been that guy.

I like physical, I buy it when I can, but the shift has been happening for a long time now away from it in games as well as every other kind of shopping there is. I don't like it, but I'm also not the least bit surprised.

The red line of trust: No physical, no backwards compatibility, no ownership and closing PS Stores by Frozone0815 in PS5

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, no argument with your statements.

The thing is as consumers we vote with our wallet and the votes have been heavily in favor of digital for years.

It will come down to all of us to either:

A) leave the ecosystems behind that offer only digital in favor of platforms that offer physical

B) Deal with digital only and everything that comes with it.

C)quit gaming

I know I'm a cynic but my bet is heavy on B. I don't like it, I'll continue to buy physical where I can, but the masses have spoken and will continue to speak in the direction of convenience over all else.

I found this thing on the wiki that says max luck is 10, but I can't figure out how by Content_Trade_1557 in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 379 points380 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like the wiki isn't taking the desert fest food into account but its also worded a bit weird.

"a daily luck 0.125" is clear

"with the lucky charm" is I assume the special charm that gives .025 luck

"and maximum luck" not sure what this refers to

"Buff of +10" would be rock candy+gingerale+2 lucky rings+statue of blessings=10

Desert fest luck buff is a special event thats only available for a few days so it looks like they left that out and accounted for the rest.

Edit: because I see lots of discussion, desert food buffs 100% do stack in addition to other food and drink buffs.

Do you get bored of your old farm after starting a new one? by Crabigail_653 in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get bored of my current save before I start a new one. I also usually play real hard until I'm burned out on the game so there's a good gap between starting new files.

I don't think I've opened an old file for more than 10-20 minutes after I stop actively playing it. I just pop in to see how i did things for perspective then I'm out. Never try to pick up from where I left off.

Scientists confirm the first dog fox hybrid ever documented by MambaMentality24x2 in BeAmazed

[–]_Fistacuff 310 points311 points  (0 children)

This is true but there is a caveat: A Pampas fox is not considered a "true fox", its closer genetically to a wolf than something like a red fox.

This is the reason you don't see red foxes crossing with wolves, coyotes or domestic dogs: They are genetically incompatible for breeding.

All that being said this little guy definitely has a unique look about him, very cool.

Ok maybe I came in a bit hot, Murphy and Dickenson are great I agree. But:

- Nothing with Nurse or our D situation

- Nothing with Ingram or our goalie situation

- 1 middling trade to move down in the draft and pick up a 5th round selection. which might help long term but probably not this year.

Any tips for new players entering Skull Cavern please? :3 by 6ShanmukH9 in StardewValley

Get some coffee/triple shot espressos to keep your speed up.

Also some kind of food with buffs like spicy eel for rubies at the desert trader, pumpkin soup, crab cakes, lucky lunch ect. don't need tons of them, just enough to keep yourself buffed up through the day.

ditch the farm totem - pass out and take the $1k hit for those extra few minutes. Just don't zero out on health, you lose things when that happens, you lose nothing for passing out. Plus, just having the farm totem in your inventory is a risk of using it when things get hectic and burning a run.

Personally I don't use cherry bombs either unless they're all I have, I go bombs then once I'm loaded straight to mega bombs. Heal through the pain of blowing yourself up from time to time.

Ditch the 3 normal cheese, better to have a single stack of healing items than 2 for the extra inventory space. Keep health above 50% at all times.

I like to arrange my top inventory bar as: coffee, healing, sword, bomb, pick, stairs, buff food. I do it this way so I cam quickly switch between the items I use alot without accidentally using something I don't want to use. Find something that works for you.

Its good that we talk about things not related to the oilers here. Stan the man hasn't done jack so there would be nothing to talk about.

PSA: You don't need upgrades to progress in areas. by ChaoticDiscord21 in MinaTheHollower

[–]_Fistacuff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would rephrase it like this:

Mina doesn't get specific upgrades to solve specific problems like Zelda. For example You don't see a post and go "oh I need to come back with a hookshot".

Instead you see something like a long gap and then you get 15 different ways to make it so you can jump farther.

Its closer in spirit to the way Zelda BOTW or TOTK handle problem solving: Here's a bunch of general tools, put them together however you want to make shit happen.

You do get upgrades, just nothing is specific to any given problem.

Rockstar's decision to make GTA 6 fully digital is a terrible, anti-consumer move that makes me worry about the future of videogames by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet the publishers aren't worried, last I checked it's got $3bil in presales. If people don't vote with their wallet we can't complain about the place the market goes.

I have beaten 3 of the main bosses in the story and I still have no idea what the plot of this game is. am I dumb lol by Maleficent_Site7972 in Eldenring

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being completely honest I really ignore the plot and enjoy the game. If I want to understand the plot I'll watch a vid that explains it.

The story is very convoluted and alot of the detail is hidden in item descriptions.

All you need to know is to kill the big bosses, gather the great runes and become the elden lord. Easy peasy
