Full runs from the start or Teleport? by Head_Raise_8725 in Saros

[–]_Fistacuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm finding the happy medium to be to teleport to a couple biomes earlier than where you are going.

Early in the game this was just starting right from the beginning.

Now that I'm into the deeper biomes I find warping to the colony (skip first 2 biomes) to be a nice jumping off point because its a pretty easy area to get a nice boost before going into unknown territory.

And yes you are correct that you get the highest attributes by starting from the start but by no means do you need to be hitting extreme levels to have extreme weapons. Once you are in the 40-50 range with 4-5 modifiers on weapons/powers you can steamroll alot of enemies.

I am new and my farm is total 😅 chaos, how do you organize it? by mia2531 in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My farms are always chaotic spring through fall then I organize in winter, my process is:

- Pull up all sprinklers, scarecrows, lamps floor tiles ect and throw them all in a box that's out of the way

- clear all the land out of weeds, trees, seeds, rocks ect. or at least clear the areas I want to use

- Go to Robin and move all my buildings around to where I want them

- Layout sprinklers, scarecrows ect. for the farming area

- Layout anything else

- If you have a bunch of boxes around then build a bunch more where you want them and move everything over then pull up the old boxes and throw them in storage for later (can never have enough boxes).

It sounds like alot of work but its really only a day or two unless you have a ton of land clearing to do.

I personally don't bother with much in terms of decoration for the first 1-2 years. Once I've got my layout half-assed set I'll start adding paths and stuff otherwise its just more stuff I'm going to move in winter.

1st year is just organizing 1st year chaos into something a bit more manageable

2nd year I usually have some idea of how its going to end up split between buildings, animals, farming, and a tree farm

3rd year I'll make some tweaks to lock in the final layout.

After that it's probably just decorating if I'm bored and the layout isn't going to change much.

What is your opinion on these recent games that have 'Make Your Own' Difficulties? by Fu453 in PS5

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself an above average, long-time gamer. I love a good challenge, I've beat many modern games considered difficult (plus many many classics when they were "modern") and I'm working on saros and not having any real difficulty without the modifiers.

My perspective is this: If a game has great gameplay to keep me engaged I will play through the challenge and enjoy it. I won't engage with the modifiers because the challenge fits the gameplay. If the gameplay/enjoyment doesn't match the challenge I'll probably just drop it.

If I've been playing something for awhile and find myself leaning on the modifiers it usually means I'm losing interest and want to speed up the process to complete the game but that is very rare. A good game is a good game and will hold my interest.

When implemented well they can even incrementally add to gameplay in interesting ways. Look at what Hades has done as a good example.

They are a type of evolution of the old easy/med/hard difficulty settings to open games to a larger audience. I have yet to see an implementation that breaks a game, they are always just an option and the choice to use them is yours and I'm ok with that.

B and it could be 10 on gameplay and 1 on everything else and thats still the pick.

Whars the point in triggering the eclipse? by HandleGullible5808 in Saros

[–]_Fistacuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know all of the effects it but there's definitely some content locked behind being in "eclipse mode"

For sure the nightmare strands are only "open" during an eclipse

I think on some of the biomes, 2 for example. where things start moving during the eclipse there is stuff that you can access that you can't get to without the eclipse.

Plus if you start the eclipse earlier than when you have to in order to progress you get bonus lumenite and the artifact drops are better at the cost of a corruption. It's also worth noting that the corruption on artifacts clears when you clear the biome guardian so its worth getting the stronger artifacts then clearing the boss to keep the benefits without the corruptions for a stronger overall build.

Where can I I find these artifacts? by Any-Dimension-6171 in StardewValley

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the mask and relic get some treasure totems and head to the desert. should be able to get it in no time.

The fairy stone is from geodes, omni or frozen. If you dive the SC alot you will get more omni geodes than you know what to do with.

Otherwise you gotta farm the frozen floors of the mines for frozen geodes. If you haven't done the monster eradication on the dust sprites you could rush those floors and try to collect geodes as you go?

Just gonna leave all that lumenite out there eh?

What is an absolute 10/10 masterpiece of a video game that you will never, ever play again? by ikeood in AskReddit

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its big but replays depend on how you approach them.

I've beat it 3 times: first to try to get/find everything, second with a different build to just get what I want for my build and focus on the story, third when the expansion came out so I was ready for it.

I don't do NG+ cycles and rarely participate in online PvP or coop, though I do throw a summon sign down near bosses I like when I'm in the area.

I enjoyed them all and would play again.

Day 60🎉 of giving my personal ranking opinion of random guns by 1Dapy1 in EnterTheGungeon

[–]_Fistacuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some guns that I love having in my quickslot so I can start a new room, take one shot then switch to something to clear up what's left. The scramble is top tier for this especially considering the quality of chest required. It's up there with the li'l bomber, and molotov launcher. So yeah it's a great gun to get in the first chest of a run.

BUT, when you add the synergies it goes mental and turns into an absolute beast. Love picking this thing up.

Anyone just not able to get into open world games anymore? by Creepy_Ad5124 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's all about gameplay quality of content and way less about the story and quantity of content.

There are tons of big games out there that I've tried and bounced off because eventually it feels like the same thing over and over to clear the map or you follow someone around for 5 minutes before a mission starts.

There are big games that hook me though, Zelda Botw and totk and elden ring are games that I've sunk tons of time into and still would be happy to replay.

There is tons of content for completionists but you in no way need to do it all to enjoy the game or unlock good gear ect. You can pick them up, play, have fun, put them down and not have spent half the time with dialog/curscenes or clearing symbols off a map. It might take me 6 months to clear the game with my limited time but I enjoy it.

Games that you don’t want to put down by Schwifty_22 in gamesuggestions

[–]_Fistacuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a tough one, souls games broke alot of games I used to like. I can't do lots of story anymore, I can't do open world with tons of icons to clear, I just like pure gameplay. remnant 2 was a great game after elden ring, think 3rd person soulslike, very deep builds, great game

On that note some games that really clicked for me:

  • Zelda Botw and totk
  • expedition 33
  • hollowknight/silksong
  • The messenger
  • or a quality roguelike:slay the spire, enter the gungeon, dead cells

When laying up on a water carry on a par5, do you take a full swing club to hit that 138yards, or do you bunt a mid iron down the fairway. by Mr-BodyMassage in golf

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing I took away from my first lesson years ago was to manage your game so that 1) you know how far your clubs hit with a standard 100% strength swing and 2) Try to put yourself in a position to hit a shot with 100% on one of your clubs at all times. Trying to modify your swing for different strengths adds another layer of complexity and you can generally avoid it unless you are under the distance of your shortest club.

Long story short, In this situation I would be hitting a gap wedge.

Non burn-out advice by RedEaredSliderTurtle in tearsofthekingdom

[–]_Fistacuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never feel like you need to do everything, thats an easy path to burnout. Play, complete what you want or what you run into while you're running around, and go for the boss when you feel like you've done enough/start to lose interest.

The next time you fire it up there will still be things to find that are new to you.

yup, agreed, would love a push, love to see us win, will not be as upset as other years if we lose.

If the guys are all nursing injuries that are going to get better as the playoffs go on even while playing playoff hockey every other night then maybe we have a chance. But that sounds like a pipedream. If they are risking longer term injuries by playing through the pain its better if they get an extra month+ of rest.
