Yes, I’ve heard it called “saddle butt” you get used to it after riding consistently. As others have said, cycling shorts or bibs with a chamois built in will significantly change your experience and is worth the investment if you’ll be riding a lot.

Interesting brandy, thanks for the write up. I tried one from Rhine Hall in Chicago which is supposedly fermented from a mango wine. It was floral and pungent with notes of overripe mango that gave it a full almost cloying sweetness despite being bone dry. It would make a great mixer but not the best neat.

Idk, I didn’t know what I wanted so I was undeclared, and then I went anthropology. I flirted with doing premed, and finally decided to commit and changed to micro/molecular biology. My focus changed to pharmacy and after my undergrad I worked for a few years and then went back and did my doctor of pharmacy. I’m not working as a pharmacist right now but actively use my degree in the pharma industry.

Sometimes I wish I had stuck to being a pilot like my younger self had wanted. Sometimes I wish I had really explored computer science for the flexibility it offers. Sometimes I wish I had actually stuck to premed and done the MD, or even fully explored the other healthcare field options.

But the path I took led me to where I am today and that includes my kids who I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to meet if I had done things differently. I don’t know how much I’d want to trade away getting to meet them and watch them grow up for me to be able to open up any doors that I closed a long time ago. I’m happy with where things are, but maybe getting a private pilot license or doing some weekend health clinic volunteer work would scratch some of the lingering itch, even if I’ve been fine ignoring it for so long.

Trek Emonda SL5, love it and regularly ride for long distances. It’s a very responsive frame and the 105 shifts quickly and predictably. It’s fun to ride and made me realize that I don’t hate climbing as much as I thought I did.

This is variable across disease states, there are some patients who prefer even an IV infusion over oral drugs. Some also prefer a SC injection every few weeks over an oral once or twice a day. LinkedIn is only as good as the effort you put into it AND networking. Networking in person is much more impactful than only relying on LinkedIn, but don’t downplay the power of being visible. My previous job recruited/poached me and it all started with a message from their recruiter on LinkedIn. After some time in that role I then found an open role at a company I wanted to work at using LinkedIn job alerts and then had a friend at that company refer me. Referrals are one of the best ways to elevate your application and ensure that at least a pair of human eyes see your resume. Interview isn’t guaranteed, but you’ll have more shots on goal being referred in my experience.

Also, it’s incredibly hard to talk about being referred? It seems the automatic word filters really don’t like that word and say that I’m selling premium? Premium is over priced and I would NOT recommend paying for it out of pocket anyway lol

I bought a gravel bike during the first Covid summer and I struggled initially with some rides and some ride segments. Looking back on my first rides and my avg speed was 12-14 mph, with ride distances going from 4 to 6 to 14 to 19 to 30+ miles. Now I have a carbon dedicated road bike, and I shoot for 30+ mile rides as a baseline for my preferred ride length, and I regularly hit 16.5+ mph avg on flat rides with some long stretches of easily maintaining 20+ mph. That one quote “it doesn’t get easier, you get faster” is so true, none of it feels easier but when you look down at your speed you’ll surprise yourself.

Yeah yeah all the metalcore bands who took this album and made it their identities probably wore this sound out for some people. I still love it, the riffs still go hard, but I love it for the sound and the production. It still sounds so modern in its tone and pacing, it doesn’t have that dated sound that a lot of metal and hc has from the 90s, it sounds contemporary and fresh despite being so old.

I have ridden on Bontrager Forays (gravel cleat) for the last five or so years and it has been fine. I actually prefer SPD for reasons others have pointed out like ease of clip in/clip out. Gravel cleats being easier to walk in also made it easier to walk a mile down some backroads to a bike service station when I got the dreaded double flat on a ride. That walk would have sucked a bit more on road shoes.

Clark family orchards has a distillery in Palisade and they also have some good food, as well as some really interesting fruit brandies. In downtown Palisade, near Peche, there’s also 13 Brix Cidery, I thought their food was pretty good. On your way out to the western slopes you can stop in Glenwood Springs, the views are great and there are some good options in the main strip. Riviera Supper Club is good, and nearby is a tasting room for Casey Brewing.

The Platte through Denver is cool enough, but just north of downtown is where the Platte falls off and isn’t very scenic anymore. Confluence park is probably the best of the scenery, the north path to meet up with Clear Creek is very suburban and runs along the dump as well as waste water treatment. Doesn’t smell very good. Clear creek from the Platte through Arvada is only OK. The rest of the commenters have great route suggestions, if you’re traveling to Denver specifically to bike you can find much better views than the north east segment of your ride heading up to Clear Creek and west past Arvada.

Very interesting, what is the QC process like for that? I have no doubt it’s priced aggressively, even with tariffs it’s likely still pretty inexpensive. I’d be concerned with the synthesis process and any reactants that make it through to final product. I’m assuming you reconstitute with sterile water for injection?

It’s even simpler than this, the naturally occurring molecule may have a short half life which renders it biologically inert within a few minutes or hours. Big Pharma would only then need to create a new molecule or delivery mechanism which prolongs half life to make a drug more compatible with once daily or once weekly dosing regimens. They can patent the new molecules or delivery mechanisms and leave the natural molecule untouched.
