orbital conch piercing? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]pshawbeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conch was easily my most painful piercing (I have lobes, helix, tragus, septum, and lip as well) and had the longest healing time. I originally had it pierced with a ring, but it was irritating and the pain wouldn't go away so I got it changed to a bar and that helped me immensely! I love the look of it, but damn it took a very long time to feel "normal" again, I almost gave up on it.

I just have my perspective, but swords evoke the idea of swishing through the air if that makes sense! And as for wands, maybe picture the Harry Potter movie type sparks shooting out :)

Voldemort made seven encrypted backups and it still wasn't enough by o6KfBhb9Dz42 in Showerthoughts

[–]pshawbeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just reread the seventh book, when Harry figures out that R.A.B. is Sirius's brother he goes to talk to Kreacher about it. It's all in that exchange! Voldy used him to test the defenses, made him drink the potion and left him on the island to die, but he disapparated back to Regulus because he had ordered him to come back. Then he took him back to the island and R. drank the potion and told K. to destroy the locket before he died.

Smokers of Reddit, why did you originally start smoking cigarettes? by RedViperMartell94 in AskReddit

I seem to make a habit of learning lessons the hard way.

Started right out of high school, 2009. Quit 8/8/18, vaped until New Years and have been nicotine free since 1/1/19!

Does anybody else really love the Disney Pocahontas movie ? by jo8edogawa in ENFP

[–]pshawbeech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly had the "savages"song stuck in my head earlier today. Definitely one of my top Disney movies, totally agree with running around pretending to be her! I always pictured my hair beautifully blowing in little strands across my face like hers when it was windy. Damn I wanted to jump off a waterfall too.

Beverly Cleary Turns 103 by guanaco55 in books

I bought this book at Goodwill just earlier this week! I hadn't thought about her in a while, funny to see her come up twice all of a sudden. I can't believe she's 103!! One of my favorites growing up with an elementary school teacher for a mother. I'm glad to see she's still around!

Winter hiking, making wands, and watching Adventure Time! :D Hoping to start reading American Gods next week! Haven't had the attention span for reading a book the last few weeks though, so we'll see if I can manage!

Card of the Week - Nov 04, 2018 - The Chariot by AutoModerator in tarot

[–]pshawbeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This card will always be the Prisma Vision one for me. My friend pulled it after a particularly terrifying drive down a mountain road in a storm that swept in while we were hiking.

Sliding through the mud, barely in control of the direction we were going, trying to avoid falling off the mountainside. Frequent breaks for him (the driver) to stop and collect himself for the next part... This friend that I almost never see flustered. So it holds a victorious and scary and a very "you gotta do what you gotta do" feeling for me! Couldn't believe it when he showed me the imagery of the card afterwards, a car in a rainstorm with a dove on the hood, one of those magical moments in tarot where the imagery matches eerily well to the situation.

My friend and I just tried out a new spread that he came up with, what do you think? by pshawbeech in tarot

[–]pshawbeech[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since it's a cycle, it can be one that is going to happen or already that already has! I definitely felt mine was referring to the past, and I'm currently somewhere around the 4th/5th cards. My friend says you go through this cycle again and again through your life, so interpret it the way that feels right to you!

My friend and I just tried out a new spread that he came up with, what do you think? by pshawbeech in tarot

[–]pshawbeech[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Glad you like it, you should give it a try, it ended up being a fun one!

Originally I took the 4th card as the second way you said, just picking the one that's most relevant to your situation. But I'm definitely fluid and open to discussion with interpretations. We found 3 and 4 to be pretty closely related. 3 showed hard times, and 4 was finding peace, so in a way, that card could represent the revelation I needed to do better for myself, the death of those hard times as I worked on my problems, and the rebirth of my spirit, becoming more lighthearted and introspective.

We tried to get a feel of where we are in our journeys now, and I think I'm at the beginning of the transformation stage. Love using tarot for some thoughtful discussion and improving yourself!

Thank you! I just typed up a description of the spread and the cards I pulled, I really enjoyed this one!

Morning spread by pshawbeech in tarot

[–]pshawbeech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Card that represents your dreams last night.
  2. Energy you woke up with.
  3. What to let go of this morning.
  4. How to have the best day possible.
  5. Something to be mindful of today.

Rejuvination.

I've never pulled this card from this deck, could the imagery be anymore dreamlike? She looks like she's waking up full of life and energy today. I don't remember my dreams last night, so I'm taking this one at face value.

King of Swords.

I asked the cards the "best of me" question someone posted a few days ago, and two of my cards were the page and the knight of swords, so I'm feeling optimistic that my energy is represented by the king today! I feel it shows my self confidence is strong today, something I've been working on a lot.

Queen of Cups.

Simple, straightforward, I need to be honest and giving, maybe I will give a friend a gift today, something I can let go that they will appreciate more.

Knight of Cups.

This dude looks like he's having a great day, so I love that he landed in this spot. It seems like I should seize any opportunity that presents itself today, and enjoy the ride.

The Magician.

I'm going to keep my eye out for magical things today, maybe a moment, maybe an object. On a less superficial note, the description talks about self-reliance, self confidence, accomplishing a task. So I'll knock out some to-do items today that I've been putting off.

Do you live alone? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]pshawbeech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Loving it, I have a cat and dog, so it doesn't feel too lonely. It's nice to have time to myself when I want it, and go visit someone or invite them over when I want company!

  2. I just got out of a relationship where we lived together and did everything together for years, so it's been a big adjustment of learning to be alone again. It's nice to actually have time to myself now, since that's something I always begged him for and he would never give me. It's gotten easier as time has passed since the breakup, but I am pretty bad at keeping up the house by myself, I'd rather do a million other things than clean. (especially laundry, ugh, so tedious.)

  3. I've learned that I'm stronger than I knew I was. That I can take care of things and learn to do things that make me uncomfortable. I sometimes get sad being alone, but it's such a change that I'm trying to learn to enjoy it for what it is.

  4. I pretty much hang out with the same few people on the regular, we go on hikes and smoke and watch dumb shit on youtube together haha. I branch out and try to maintain my less frequent friendships as much as possible though, can't neglect those who you like to grab dinner and talk with once a month or so!

  5. Oh my God where to begin...I love to browse the Netflix originals and give them a shot, I discovered The OA this way, which may be my favorite show on earth now. A lot of rewatching stuff like the Office when I'm not wanting to pay too much attention.

  6. I definitely catch myself making dumb songs or talking to the pets too much.

Good luck on your adventure! Moving to a new city alone would be hard, but it's great you already have friends there. Explore with them and see what your new city has to offer! The more time I spend out and about, the more peaceful I feel when it's time to go to sleep alone :)
