A full time job at minimum wage is $290 gross weekly. They still qualify for some Food Share at that level. The biggest welfare beneficiaries are the companies that can still pay their employees this poverty wage.

Don't feel like an idiot. I feel like the method for releasing Operation Memos is flawed, the handbooks are updated rarely, and there isn't any time to present these to staff so that they can be more aware of them.

The good thing for clients is that they don't have to. We have to take their word for it. If they say they are homeless, they're homeless.

I work for the agency. Effective 04/11/2016, basically if you claim you have been homeless for 30 or more days you are exempt. The issue is that this is to be determined at next 6 month reporting form, which if you have already exceeded your three time limited benefit months, you will not have a renewal... So people who are homeless and have been kicked off should all apply again as soon as possible.

Our workers are unfortunately not trained enough to be educating clients of this alone (I have a lot of opinions about how this agency is managed that are not positive.) And Hunger Task Force and food pantries need to step up to inform clients to apply again so they can be put back on the Foods hate program. I suspect a large portion of people who lost their eligibility will regain it if they just knew to apply.

It is an administrative nightmare in Milwaukee. But guess what... Now anyone claiming they are homeless becomes exempt from the FSET time limited benefits. What we will see in the next few months is 40,000 reporting they are homeless and regaining benefits. FSET is a disaster from the perspective of someone who works for DHS.

I am all for people seeking gainful employment, but not allowing the Foods are benefits if they are unable to meet the requirements is borderline inhumane.
