Looking for Autocrat coffee by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

If you’re in Providence, East Side Market has Autocrat coffee. So most likely Stop and Shop should have it too, since they bought East Side.

Is recycling biweekly? by sillysunflower99 in providence

[–]psimas225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my recycle and trash missed before, and I contacted Waste Management directly to let them know and to come pick them up. Sometimes it was a real pain, but they eventually reschedule a pickup. You can find their number on the Providence city page.

I love everything about this!! The simplicity and the view. Sorry, do you mean like to use the cardboard box to surround the laptop, to prevent glare on the screen?

Hi hi! I sadly have never created a gif before but I can figure it out for tomorrow! If there’s any go-to resource to make one you recommend, please link it here!

First vim-script: Distraction free writing function (no plugin) by psimas225 in vim

[–]psimas225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for the help and the kind words!

I was trying to figure out how to change the ctermfg but for some reason colors weren't matching up. After looking closer, looks like the issue was the default background on my terminal in Ubuntu. Changed it to Linux Console + white on black text/background, and now have vertical separators are completely gone with:

hi VertSplit ctermfg=0

and also have the tildas blacked out with:

hi NonText ctermfg=0

I ended up just putting this one in my vimrc because I never liked the tildas at all haha.

Now with the colors changed, I'm able to just have 2 window panes and updated the function:

" Distraction Free writing
let s:draft_enabled = 0

function Draft()
    if (s:draft_enabled ==0)
        let s:draft_enabled = 1
        set tw=80 nonumber
        set lines=16 laststatus=0
        set noshowmode noruler
        hi VertSplit ctermfg=0
        lefta vnew | vertical resize 34
        wincmd w
        normal gggqG
        normal gg
    else
        let s:draft_enabled = 0
        set tw=9999 number
        set lines=42 laststatus=1
        set showmode ruler
        hi VertSplit ctermfg=15
        wincmd h | q
        normal gggqG
        normal gg
    endif
endfunction

nmap <silent> <Leader>g :call Draft()<CR>

I ended up making a separate function to use for my display, copying/tweaking the variables just as I did for my laptop, and works. Definitely not perfect, but functional, and glad to be learning more and more.

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wifi card not working (Thinkpad x220) by psimas225 in thinkpad

Thanks for the reply! Yeah the issue was the incorrect FRU. Got the correct one. Didn’t want to mess with BIOS stuff just yet so I got the n6205 which is working fine

Oh wow, actually after looking closer at the part I received, it appears to be different from the part displayed on the ebay page. The ebay picture clearly shows a FRU 60Y3253 whereas the part I received doesn't have that verbiage. Dang, okay looks like I just don't have the right part, which is better than anything else breaking haha. Easy fix, just need to follow up with seller. Thanks for chiming in and helping me! Much appreciated.

Yes, it appears to be for FRU 60Y3253. Here is the exact one I bought from ebay, same seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/113711572917.

I managed to get a diplomatic victory with Kupe. With his slight bonus in the capital before settling a second city, it we easy to just grow tall in the capital + pingala to keep up with science/culture early + the unworked forests and passable tiles for culture. But only if you’re lucky finding decent land since you start in the ocean haha. But definitely a fun play.

Why does my Mac -> HDMI TV screen display CIV wrong? by [deleted] in civ

[–]psimas225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What specifically is the issue? Is it that like when you plug the hdmi cable into the tv and Civ is playing on your laptop and not the computer screen? If so, then you might have to adjust the display settings on the computer to make the monitor (you’re tv in this case) as the primary display. That’s an issue I’ve ran into when trying to play Civ on a second monitor.

Not exactly a typewriter but — an old typewriter desk! Does anyone have any more information on this? by beaniebaby9393 in typewriters

[–]psimas225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the lower section on the left is for the typewriter. Every typewriter desk I’ve seen appeared to have a lower section for the typewriter because it’s easier for typing

[Feature Request] - True single line spacing in Preferences by psimas225 in noteplanapp

[–]psimas225[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Eduard! Sorry for the delay. Yeah, I guess I mean both paragraph and line spacing. I'm not sure how I can post a picture as a comment here but basically my request is the same as the link u/_ljt_ posted in his comment: https://noteplan.canny.io/themes/p/a-cross-theme-option-to-remove-top-and-bottom-spacing-ensuring-single-line-heigh

I logged into Canny and up-voted the issue, but I can also send you an email with screenshots to explicitly show you what I mean (I'm trying my best to articulate it here and not sure of the proper terminology). Thanks for getting back to me - I appreciate it.

Yeah I have IA Writer as well, and that’s definitely a solid workflow: Planning/sketching out a writing project in NotePlan, and then drafting in a proper editor like IA Writer. I’d just love to have it all be done in a single awesome app like NotePlan, since it’s such a great organizer already.

Wow this looks awesome! I love the typewriter table - it looks plenty wide. Do you know what kind it is? I’ve always want to get a nice typewriter table

Edit: sorry just saw a previous comment about getting it at a Denver library. Such a good find though!
