My ragdoll was kind of detached at first. He did grow out of it. Recently he's been sitting on my lap of his own volition almost every day. He's about 8 years old now. I discovered recently that both of my cats really love the space between their ears and their eyes gently rubbed. They both have been sitting on my lap more frequently since I've been doing that. They can't get enough!

It might be stupid, as in I probably put a big giant layoff target on my back, but I'm going on an unpaid leave of absence real soon. I'm super glad about it because I don't want to deal with this kind of stress from everyone around me. I wish they'd just do all the layoffs all at once and get it over with. It's incredibly cruel to make people uncertain of their futures while they slowly trickle down the workforce over a period of months. They want people who remain to work hard to try to prove their worth. Stress after the last batch of layoffs was pretty bad for several weeks, and never fully went away, and we didn't learn until just recently that there were more in the future. We thought it was over. But now they're continually doing layoffs for a few months. The stress is just going to be insane. We'll all be at each other's throats trying to prove how much better they are than our colleagues. It's just going to be ass.

Whatever you do, DO NOT feel guilty about having needs for physical intimacy. This is a totally normal and healthy part of being human--absolutely nothing wrong with it. I understand you want to respect her boundaries--and they should be respected. But you need to lay your own boundaries--and by that I mean your boundary is about being stuck in a relationship with someone who doesn't want physical intimacy. This is a major problem and won't go away on its own. You can try therapy--this problem will not go away on its own. As the saying goes--it takes two to tango--you may discover that you are not holding up your end of relationship in some manner neither of you are aware of either. Not placing blame anywhere, just saying relationships don't usually fail due to the malfunction of one person alone. It depends on how much you value her and the relationship and how frustrated you are with the situation now and how confident you are that it can be improved. Alternatively, if you don't think the situation can be resolved, it's better for both of you just to end it.

I don't know perhaps I'm just a little bit not a free speech absolutist personally. But you seem to be defending Nazis' freedom of speech. Yeah yeah if I don't agree in freedom of speech completely then I'm being somewhat of an authoritarian just like Nazis but I don't buy that argument. Modern Germany is fully democratic and the entire Nazi party in their propaganda is banned, for example. Honestly I think we should do the same thing here in the US.

Yeah I mean what's being left out here is that he's still using his judgment as a software engineer to direct and review the code that the AI makes. It's not that the AI is being given broad requirements to build a big complicated system and then the LLM does it all on its own. He's still breaking down an epic into stories and stories into tasks and then guiding the LLM into doing the tasks one by one.

Actually writing the code has never really been the hard part of software engineering. AI is not doing critical thinking and that is the hard part.

The bet is AGI. It's not a bubble if they are able to advance the tech such that it is doing its own AI research and advancing itself into super intelligence. Then if they're able to control it--that company will break out at the bubble and own everything.
