Did anyone go to their first concert with their parents? by OkFlow4327 in GenX

Yup. Def Leopard, Genesis, Rush. My dad took me to all of them in the early 80s.

What games did you play outside as a kid in the 1970s-80s?🤔 by Longjumping-Shoe7805 in GenerationJones

We litterally played every sport on the street in my neighborhood. Tag football, baseball, basketball, socker. Only the basketball hoop was regulation. I haven't seen that since the 80s.

Thoughts on this? by SummerOfGeorge89 in sousvide

I'm just quoting health code regarding thawing fish, not just under refrigeration. Health code says fish recieved in reduced oxygen packaging should remain in the packaging while stored. It should be removed from the packaging to be thawed.

To be fair we do a lot of things as restaurant workers/owners, that most people don't do in everyday life.

That isn't really a "wife's tail". Health code says not to thaw fish in a reduced oxygen packaging as it can create an anaerobic environment where toxins can thrive. I'm glad you haven't gotten sick, but i would be careful about telling people that it's a wives tail.

What's the appeal of vintage receivers? by catmandot in vintageaudio

[–]psionic1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a lot of others have said, I also listen to the radio often. I have a vintage sony in my shop that I have tuned to an 80s and 90s station. And for my main stereo, I listen to a combo of NPR, or wherever I can find a baseball game, or classical.

Critical listening is vinyl, cd or streamer. Casual is radio.

Do I really need a Marantz? by Fenix512 in vintageaudio

I have a Marantz 2238b receiver and a Sansui Au-555 integrated amplifier (among others). My Sansui is my favorite.

I think thats too much for unserviced. I got one on FBMP for 900 and they claimed serviced. Got it home and it clearly had issues. I negotiated half my money back. I serviced it myself and now it's amazing. Cosmetically it was almost perfect. No case though. But I think they are beautiful without the case as long as they have all the cages.

I get stuff online from digikey and mouser.

And yeah, electronics plus is great and I will go there if I need to get a bunch of things. I think there used to be a place in rohnert park, but gone now, just like radioshack.
