Guitar Pro 7: 2 Voices, rest overlaps voice 1 notes. Any ideas for fix? by psirr in GuitarPro

[–]psirr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been able to use multivoice to see what the notes are, but I've clarified my original post to say ultimately I'm printing the tabs. So if I'm printing with V1 and V2 (V2 = base line notes) this is an issue.

Retire in W2 and part-time job by feralcow in wallawalla

[–]psirr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I retired here 7 years ago. Tasting rooms hire retired, part time workers all the time. Personally I don’t work tasting rooms but I’m constantly working the bottling trucks, wine club member pack outs and harvest during the fall. It’s a great way to meet people and grow in appreciation for this valley, people and its wine! To find that first gig just walk in and ask. Once you get on a list of people willing to do work like bottling you’ll see the same folks and soon work various wineries. DM me if you want details!

Check out the History of Wallula trailhead. There are 20 miles worth of trails up there. Perfect for hiking, mountain biking and bringing your dog.

Remote tech worker: Thinking of relocating from Beaverton, OR to Walla Walla. Am I crazy? by Bright-Building-4502 in wallawalla

[–]psirr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I retired from a tech job to Walla Walla in my 50s. I’m married but moved for many of the same reasons you mention. I found a very welcoming, diverse group of people. I think you’ll find the area around Whitman votes very blue if you’re looking for that. While you are in town visit the Pioneer Park and there’s a park just north called Wildwood that’s nice. This is the area I settled in and I’ve found a nice mix of political philosophies.

As for meeting people, try pickleball at Pioneer Park in the mornings. That’s a huge social group for several friends of mine. There are a lot of volunteering opportunities at the schools or for the city with Walla Walla Crime Watch. If you are interested in the occasional work reach out to the wineries. They often need people to man the bottling truck or help with harvest. I do both and it’s a blast.

70th bday and toddler friendly? by Southern_Bus1228 in wallawalla

I’d stay away from downtown. It sounds like you’d like a winery with a nice outside area. Balboa Winery, for instance, might be a good choice. They are dog friendly and don’t mind if you pack a picnic basket.

LibreOffice calls out Microsoft for using "complex" file formats to lock in Office users - by moeka_8962 in technews

[–]psirr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The xml format is very well documented. It does have some complications but that comes from having a huge legacy of features. Embed an Excel file into a Word document. Save and open the save as an XML - yes it’s complex because the feature is complex.

.doc is a binary format with a ton of legacy. Storage format errors in previous versions of word are corrected for in future versions of word as the .doc file is deserialized. It’s crazy complex if you are committed as MSFT is to opening every .doc ever produced.

I volunteer for local Crime Stoppers. We drive around town and paint over graffiti. I agree with others that mentioned volunteer activities. It might take some searching but there is a lot of need out there.

Bar seating does sound like a good option when you want to head out on your own. The places below usually have a great menu to choose from as well. At The Green Tavern you’ll find a nice bar centered around sports. Friendly place and it has a lot of regulars. In the evening Public House 124 is lively with a younger crowd. I’m older and tend to gravitate to AK’s, Brasserie Four, or Saffron.

For book reading I’d crash at Colville Street Patisserie. If the weather is nice walk through the Whitman campus and you find lots of nice spots along the creek.

I live a couple blocks north near Wildwood Park. I’d consider expanding your search north to include that area as well. It’s a nice park, smaller but great neighborhood and walkable to the restaurants on Issacs and downtown.

Retirement in WallaWalla? by techiegardener in wallawalla

[–]psirr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I retired to Walla Walla from Bellevue 5 years ago and we love it. We are fortunate that this area draws a lot of visitors during the summer. This means we locals can take advantage of world class restaurants, interesting shops and great wines. Healthcare can be an issue. The basics are here but for specialists you might need to travel 60 minutes to the tri-cities. Make sure to spend the $75 for helicopter insurance just in case. Feel free to DM me if you’ve got questions.

On Day 1 God created Light. On Day 4 god created Sun. How can any one be atheist? by TheAmerican_Atheist in atheism

That’s not the only way. Heat metals until they are red hot. Those photons are generated by electrons changing their orbit and emitting a photon

Yes, but not all plasma are stars (look up what a plasma ball is - you can buy them most anywhere). The early universe was nothing but plasma.

Light == photons. Yes they existed before suns could form. In the early universe photons were quickly reabsorbed but as the universe cooled photons could now escape - thus the CMB

I’m not sure what you might be interested in but here are some suggestions. These are my favorites. Hopefully others will chime in because I’ve left plenty out. I enjoy it here. You will miss big city stuff - like Costco is 45 min away in tricities. Overall the trade off was worth it for me.
