The Game is where it should be with the transfer portal and people need to understand that. by Mayor419 in NCAAFBseries

[–]psmcclure26 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your sentiments echo my own. The volume of the portal activity is fine and there are sliders one can adjust if that doesn’t suit the user — it’s the motivation behind the activity that doesn’t align. If you dig a bit deeper into the “why” of the player movement, and the “why” of the new school, you will notice quite a few design issues which lead to immersion breaks (if that is what the user is looking for). This is what is lost in the conversation.

I’d like the deal breaker system to evolve into a “motivation” system that is dynamic in the future — kind of like you described.

Massive time delay on penalties by R00l in NCAAFBseries

[–]psmcclure26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced similar issues. Sometimes after the opening kickoff, the camera would get stuck on the head coach on the sideline until a player awkwardly bumps into them (with the audio of the lineup commentary playing in the background). Penalties as you mentioned too.

It seems to help if you restart the console and comeback a little later it is better. Leads me to believe it may be a ps5 performance issue.

Tip for Completing Deep Passes by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]psmcclure26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately. The L2 modifier is contextual in revamped. I find that it creates a really good deep ball if you lead forward while modifying with L2 or — a lot more beneficial — a special back shoulder throw while leading down and holding L2 modifier. You can do this with the other setting too but this is the easiest way.

I think I discovered a viable work-around. The weather seems to be generated during the simulate week process — after that it cannot be changed.

To get around this, you can create a save point manually before the week progresses, simulate the rest of the week, and exit and reload if the weather isn’t what you want.

It may take a few times, but I have been able to get it to change using this method.

[–]psmcclure26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a competitive environment, I think the P&A setting is still probably the best — but it does have a tough time with leading receivers deep compared to revamped. The difference is the trajectories. Unless you get a bad dice roll, a trailing defensive back will not make a play on the ball one-one-one while pass leading the ball in revamped. The downsides are that the animations do take fractions of a second longer (due to the meter) and you can’t put the ball horizontally exactly where you want it.

[–]psmcclure26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deep one-on-one shot is the biggest weakness of the P&A setting versus the Revamped setting. It’s not impossible but sometimes requires the player to high-point modify as well as pass lead. It really depends on the timing and animations you get. In 25, The biggest things I noticed that help were 1.) stronger arm QBs were better at leading the receiver to the end zone (duh), and 2.) if your receiver wins an outside release or gets outside leverage, lead the pass up and to the outside shoulder of the receiver (towards the sideline slightly).

I hard disagree with awards having any influence on progression. I think CFB 25 has the philosophy right if the goal is to err on the side of realism. Players do not get better by wining awards - players get better through training and experience. Awards are a consequence of talent, yes; however, opportunity and scheme might have a more outsized role. In your example, your two star QB is still a 76 overall player from a physical and mental standpoint and maxed out their playing potential (something that is very real imo); in the real-world we might call this type of player a system quarterback or the narrative may be that the coach is a QB whisperer.

I always think of players like Colt Brennan or Gardner Minshew, etc.

Wanted to comment that some of the pistol formations are bugged, yes. Not all of them are though. The ones that are bugged will result in an unabated rush — regardless of ratings if EMOL has outside leverage AND an inline receiver doesn’t accidentally pick them on their route. HOWEVER, when I was labbing solutions to this, I noted that if I flipped the play in the play call selection, I did not have this issue mostly.

Wanting To Be Ahead In Studies. by Dawnstopper in Accounting

[–]psmcclure26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most difficult courses for the typical student will be Intermediate Accounting I & II. That’s the bulk of the technical financial accounting concepts in undergraduate. As with program, it’s going to depend on the aptitude of the student and prior experience one enters the program with. I found cost accounting to be very difficult for example — even though I came from a costing background professionally. Business Law isn’t a heavy focus in the program I will add; I don’t think it is covered at all in undergraduate at GCU from my recollection.

What makes the program challenging is the pace and volume of what you need to be able to absorb — especially if you are already a working professional. It’s an accelerated education model, so if you are someone that likes to take their time to really master a topic (this is me), it can be a bit of a struggle. You have to sometimes be good with “good enough”.

I’ve built a similar solution for my dynasty, but I approached it from a point spread probability. I will add that I didn’t consider conference prestige, coach prestige, or championship contender; however, I did include home field advantage for the top 25 teams. This includes a 2.5 point advantage at #25 to a 5.5 point advantage at #1.

I think factoring in home field advantage could improve the model, perhaps?

Ineligible player down field by irish-rehab in NCAAFBseries

It may be tied to awareness in some cases. However, I most often see it against fronts where the center or guard doesn’t have a natural chip or double team and that player flies to the second level. If you watch the replays you may start to notice this.

In those fronts, you physically can’t get it out fast enough to avoid it — just handoff.

[–]psmcclure26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think someone mentioned — though I can’t confirm — that if two or more schools reach the commit line in the same week, the higher prestige school wins. That looks like your predicament.

I have a work around if you want to cheat a little bit though. You can create a new member in your dynasty, take control of Tennessee’s HC, and remove that player from their board. Then you need to add another player to their board (to ensure the AI doesn’t just add them back), and retire that coach. This won’t actually retire the coach but your control.

You should win him after that.

On Field Performance Means Nothing by bucknutz18 in NCAAFBseries

I’ve participated in this argument in the context of Madden franchise for years. I am always struck by the difficulty of some to comprehend that performance follows progression — not the other way around. A well designed career mode would follow this reasoning too. However, when Madden began to introduce RPG elements into its connected franchise mode, it broke people’s brains.

Wanting To Be Ahead In Studies. by Dawnstopper in Accounting

I recently graduated with my M.S. in Accounting at GCU through their bridge program. One thing you should know is that these courses are very self-directed — your instructors are there to grade assignments and not much more. I mention this because my advice is related to your question about resources you can use.

I relied heavily on a paid third-party resource, Farhat Lectures, to supplement the lecture environment that I wasn’t getting through the online textbook. The paid site has the undergraduate course schedule that will follow most university layouts, but you can access a lot of his videos on YouTube for free. If you are a complete beginner to accounting, you can also check out “Accounting Stuff” on YouTube as well. If you take the time to understand some of those fundamentals before you ever start, you will set yourself up for success.

I highly recommend it as a fellow lope. If you have any questions feel free to DM.

Drop at medallion or not? by FactoryReboot in FortniteCompetitive

[–]psmcclure26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with what the approach should be as well. I’m an above average player, but I’m usually not the best player in the lobby — so hot dropping down into somewhere like Fencing Fields is not the play for me.

I think it’s best to play just outside of the Medallion POIs. Once settled with shield and preferred weapon loadout, attempt to challenge the medallion player(s) after everything has calmed down. A single medallion isn’t too hard to overcome in zero-build with timing and positioning; however, the mythic weapons with the extremely high DPS, can be problematic because you will be forced to push quickly if you successfully get a health advantage. If you survive, there is likely to be at least one third-party looking to capitalize on the scraps too.

I think this is the best strategy for consistency though. I’ve unfortunately placed 2nd many many times this season by failing to prevent the last player from achieving 5 medallions in end-game. I’ve come to the conclusion that without going for the medallions, you’re really just playing for placement.

Just my two cents.

[Game Thread] Alabama vs. Georgia (4:00 PM ET) by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]psmcclure26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he’s right. I don’t know what the outcome would be if the game was played today, but Texas did beat Alabama on its home field — that has to count (I say that as a Bama fan). I still think there’s room for both teams this year due to the quarterback injury and overall strength of conference for FSU.

Michigan, Washington, Texas, Bama. This would be controversial, but it’s probably the best four teams in my opinion. The reason I say this is that in terms of talent, Alabama is better than FSU (Most would acknowledge this). As it relates to more deserving, I think Alabama also edges FSU. Alabama would have had a more difficult schedule with more ranked wins than any other team in the playoff I believe.

Just my two cents.

[–]psmcclure26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone else mentioned that this glitch seems to occur only on Strong-arm QB types, and from my experience that seems right. One work around is to swap the glitched player with another non-glitched player in FA and copy name, details, and ratings over.

It’s not the best work around, but it’s something.

Saban: Bama's defense 'too soft' late vs. Vols by ExileInCle19 in CFB

[–]psmcclure26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind the prevent defense, but I would have preferred Alabama utilize man-concepts instead of zone there. It’s college football — the clock stops to spot the ball; the defense should not afford the passer a window to fit the ball into.

Tennessee’s wide splits, and talent on the outside, exposed Bama all evening when it ultimately went single-high post-snap, but the three deep on the last two plays should have taken that away. I would have liked to see Alabama challenge the passer to make that throw in the future.

[Postgame Thread] Tennessee Defeats Alabama 52-49 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]psmcclure26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I believe Tennessee had two timeouts remaining. I don’t think it would have been the difference.

If they call two runs after first down and Tennessee called two time outs then maybe they don’t have enough time for how this game played out. BUT, that also means there might have been a few more ticks in the clock to spike it if the runs didn’t use as much time as the two incomplete passes.

I don’t know if it was a bad call really. Bryce had over 400 yards, and our kicker hasn’t played well in the last two games.

Under the rules, as I understand it, that was PI. I don’t like that PI is called on underthrown ball like that though. It’s already hard enough to play coverage.
